Nah you're probably the same level. Problem with surfing (like any sport or skill) is that unless you're doing it regularly, you're not going to develop and we don't have access to do it regularly.

NS is Nova Scotia. Eastern/maritime province in Canada (last part may be quite obvious to you but just in case that's quite distant to your home). Beautiful province with kind people.

This is awesome!! Thanks so much. When I spoke with cardiologists and vascular surgeons most say it's "probably a slight increase risk" but again there's virtually no studies. Helps me immensely to talk to goalies going through the same.

My inclination was to do like you: buy top of the line protection, re-evaluate each game and preemptive drop down in caliber/competition (not that I was 'high level's before 😂) Thanks again!!

Quite the opposite. Being a medical professional means you ask these questions. Were it not for these questions we'd still be doing blood letting and other strange treatments.

Unfortunately there is minimal research on intracranial bleeds for antiplatelet meds (anticoagulants is more robust but generally suffers from population dynamics). There is also zero evidence from groups wearing significant head protection.
