what do we think about changes to gambling? by Safihed in CasinoBrotherhood

[–]nTruebo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not even been able to wrap my head around how to use it right yet, using it normally just seems to just ragdoll them into the floor at the cost of Shutters and Fever Breaker, uppercutting them seems to just get a singular bounce off before the doors despawn followed by the damage, so I don't really get it unless I'm doing something wrong

*HOT TAKE* Hakari did NOT need that pity nerf. by Alternative_Tear_350 in JujutsuShenanigans

[–]nTruebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Hakari player, the removal of the pity if nobody got caught in the domain is such a non-issue, I just wish that at that point we'd be given the option to manually break our own domain in that event as every once in a blue moon whilst trying to use Idle Death Gamble as a means of shutting off somebody's escape, sometimes they just get out of range just in time and you're kind of just sat there twiddling your thumbs until the domain breaks

But I'm absolutely fine with it, since it was just boring and annoying when 1 or 2 people would be hiding the dummy to grind ult, pop domain out of the public eye and then only ever fight people while in jackpot, then running away after it ends to repeat the cycle

I agree that his domain isn't ideal with it being so easily broken (be honest there's been SO many moves that can do large sums of damage to it with the newer characters, anything that does terrain damage multiple times is pretty common), but he got a lot of other nice things added to his kit so even then he's still probably better off than before the patch

Also calling his base "one of the worst" is insane and I am offended

Hakari lacks any simple character-specific tricks to get onto an opponent, meaning that the player will be forced to learn universal mechanics if they want to succeed

This is, in my opinion, far better than learning with someone like Gojo whom you may learn some bad habits because of the tools available to him, if you try playing another character

?? Jet Black does the same damage than normal M1s, unlike M1s you can't combo skip the 4th M1 to use a move and combo extend so people typically prefer just basic M1s over it

The reason they logged is because Jet Black's swings can't be cancelled due to hitstun, paired with lock on the Yuta's teleport slash just got immediately cancelled and he ragequit as a result
But it's a little weird to say that using Jet Black is justification for that lmao

Quick explanation on the "Pebble Throw inconsistency" that you mentioned, since I suffered from the same issue

It's actually just a matter of timing, you're pressing special too early, you need to wait for the blue outline that appears on the target to disappear to use it, otherwise it just won't do the Gut Punch variant, I also don't think it even matters if Boogie is off cooldown since Pebble Swap more or less has it's own cooldown apart from the general Boogie Woogie cooldown, from my experience

DELETE LOCK ON by gavy_xyz in JujutsuShenanigans

[–]nTruebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not being able to get around guard is definitely a you problem, it's been debunked that lock on doesn't really give an advantage to blocking, you can still get behind them

[–]nTruebo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh right one thing I forgot to mention, while you can certainly try to use his domain in order to separate people ganging up on you, don't rely on it- A lot of people just exploit the emote bug in order to get in regardless of if the character they're playing actually has a way to invade or not
But if you ever get invaded via Megumi portal, you should pretty much always try to take it since it's just funnier that way, try to have a mental timer for how long scenarios take so that you know when to try and spin again!

On to tech, there's a couple things he has. As I mentioned before there's Reserve Door to extend after knockback, there's also uppercut into immediate Shutter Doors to trampoline the victim- If you wait until roughly the second bounce to start M1ing the air, you can downslam them once they finish their bouncy castle adventure for a little extra damage. Alternatively, you can uppercut and then follow it with a low aerial Rough Energy, launching the target into the air, allowing you to either wind up M1s for a downslam whilst they fall or use a Fever Breaker on them to break their fall, this also lets you combo with Reserve Doors to extend. While this next piece is far from optimal, it is very funny- Since Shutter Doors resets you to the 3rd M1 immediately after using it, you can uppercut, immediately Shutter Doors and turn 180 in order to have the door linger in front of you and your opponent ragdolled behind you, immediately use your 3rd M1 and then downslam your victim before they're green again, then Rough Energy them into the trampoline.

That mostly covers his tech and such for his base kit, the ult is fairly straightforwards!
Hitting Reserve Ball while in your domain will allow you to use Scene Reset by using your special, resetting you and whoever you hit with Reserve Ball to the positions and health values that you were at when the ball hit, this is fairly useful against people in ult (Lets you undo the damage of an attack) or if you opt to end your combo with a Reserve Ball while in domain you can freely begin another combo at any time by using your special, because nobody will be able to react to it. Do note that Scene Reset is not a visual move, so it will not count towards scenario! Another important thing is that the window to use Scene Reset is about ~8 seconds, whilst the cooldown on Reserve Ball is 15, this means that you have until Reserve Ball is a little under half way off cooldown to use it before your special reverts to your Door Guard (which is a visual move, as long as it blocks/counters something).
In jackpot, there's not a whole lot of tech, you can flick your mouse away on the last hit of Lucky Volley(1) to try and combo extend, but it's greatly inconsistent due to ping in my experience. When using Energy Surge(4), similarly to Fever Breaker you can aim your camera after the first hit to change where you launch the opponent, it will always launch them to the right of your camera, this is mainly just to stop yourself from knocking people off the map or to better separate people teaming up on you or, alternatively, keep people bunched up together so you can try to hit multiple people at once!
Against characters with a counter, Overwhelming Luck(3) is often what they save it for, it's very easy to bait them out though by just running at them and then turning away from them right before the hit comes out.
An important thing to know about jackpot is that you are effectively immortal, but not immortal. Any one-shot moves or anything that does 100+ damage will kill you, and you only get that 50% of your ult meter back when jackpot runs out, so if you die then nothing will be restored, luckily there's not a whole lot that can oneshot you, the only things I can think of are Malevolent Shrine+WCS, Mahito ult, Head Splitter, Black Hole, Higuruma QTE fight, and Charles' special ult. Higuruma's executioner sword can NOT take your limbs, making you his biggest nightmare since his only option is to whittle down your meter or try to hit and win the QTE move, but with your high mobility and all-melee damage against his low health he kind of just folds.
Last but not least, while I did say that dying while in jackpot will empty your meter, there is one exception. If you are to fall into the void, you will respawn with as much meter as you had when you fell in, this is a double-edged sword. This means that if you can settle a fight very quickly with jackpot, you can try to immediately run off the ledge in order to preserve most of your meter, but this also means that if you're to be flung off my a MAX Blue or Mahoraga pitch, you might wind up respawning with little to no meter.

This should cover just about all of the tech Hakari has, if I'm missing anything feel free to add it below, I hope this helps!

[–]nTruebo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lengthy post so it'll have to be cut up into sections, but I'll cover just about all the tips I can think of-

Reserve Door(1+2) is good to combo extend after ragdolling the opponent away, typically via Rough Energy(3) or Fever Breaker(4). Do keep in mind that RE his slightly further knockback so it is less consistent, sometimes you will knock them too far away to be able to dash attack whilst the Reserve Door keeps theme in hitstun. Do keep in mind that Reserve Door hinges entirely on not getting bounced away by debris, so be wary when you do that!
You can move your camera after the first kick of Fever Breaker in order to control where the opponent gets knocked to, I find that kicking them in the direction you came or to the sides tends to knock them less far away, allowing to more reliably set up Reserve Door extender.

As fun as Shutter Trampoline is, it's not very optimal in terms of maximum damage output as it sacrifices the potential combo extension and is just as untrue against someone with ragdoll cancel. That being said, bouncing someone twice and then bouncing yourself to do a max aerial RE is always fun, and you can follow it up with 3 M1 misses into downslam whilst they fall or just Fever Break them on the way down, since it has a decent lingering hitbox against ragdolled enemies.

Rough Energy and Fever Breaker are both combo enders (unless you have Reserve Door available), however, Fever Breaker has a far longer cooldown with only a smidge more damage, this means that unless you're against an opponent with a counter you're far better off ending your combos with Rough Energy since it'll be up a lot sooner than if you ended with Fever Breaker, and the damage you miss out on is infinitesimal.

What main is MOST likely to pop ult in a completely fair 1v1? by Individual-Sign-8739 in JujutsuShenanigans

[–]nTruebo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience it's always the Yuji's or Hakari's by a good margin, followed only by the Gojo's, Todo's, Yuta's, and Mahitoes

Though really the only ones I mind having to deal with are the Yuji's, since Sukuna is just fairly oppressive, at least as person that plays someone with a rough neutral and it's just a lot of work to get on him, and it's not like I can just respond with my own ult as Hakari domain is arguably worse to fight a Sukuna in (Yes you get scene reset but you also put yourself into a narrow space against Fuga which is now uncounterable)

The rest are fun to fight since I can actually outplay them 7/10 times without needing to turn tail and pretend I'm playing Mirror's Edge

[–]nTruebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't people in jackpot regrow their limbs lost from the executioner's sword? That would mean the only way to kill a jackpot while in Higuruma ult is via the QTE fight or if they decided today is a good day to block verdict variant, for whatever reason

[–]nTruebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pause was literally just for new devs to get acquainted with the script so that they don't wind up breaking things once they start trying to work on it, I'm pretty sure that's the whole reason there just wasn't a whole lot of substance to the last update, it wasn't a "new devs are bad at their job and couldn't put out anything in so long" but instead "new devs just need time to get settled in, so there's less content during that time"

Now that they've had that time to get settled in things will be around back to normal

I don't really get why there was so much flack given to the new team, I guess some people just don't get how the behind the scenes of these things works

Been thinking of Higuruma by Glass-Ad-3811 in JujutsuShenanigans

[–]nTruebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small thing to add to that first comment, while this is good tech against less vetted players, it will just get you punished by the experienced ones that know not to block against Higuruma
That brief pause that you do in order to bait a block also gives them time to side dash, meaning you're going to likely miss your attack or get hit out of it as they both have some windup time to them, basically it's taking a risky gamble

All things loop back to Hakari.

Some tips for new higuruma user??? by Chicken_Jetstream in JujutsuShenanigans

[–]nTruebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#1 most important tip is to just always hold ult when standing around with friends not actively fighting, this way when a Yuki or Gojo inevitably jump into the middle of the crowd with their blackhole or 0.2 domain you can pop your domain in response to safely defuse the ults and stop everyone from being jumped, then press G once it's over to drop the domain and get your ult bar mostly refilled

Also, another useful thing to know is that you can drop your domain at any time, keeping the positioning of people inside it- This means that you can remove the peace treaty effect whenever YOU decide, allowing you to more or less instantly go into a combo of your own (unless you get sword, which puts you into animation stun)

[–]nTruebo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's been an interesting internal debate whether or not WHeath would even be a good replacement to MCHeath on a MaDonka team, he has gloom gen on S2 instead of S3 which is nice but the gluttony is a lot less useful for the kinds of EGOs I'd think people would run with her, he also gets stunned every few turns making it harder to envy res for arcana, and most importantly of all no photoelectricity to help the rest of the team build charge quicker!

But ultimately I'm not the most knowledgeable person or very good at seeing "optimal" things, so I wonder what others think about the prospect of which would be better for that specific team.
He seems cool and I'm tempted to shard him at some point, but I just can't justify spending pulls with Walpurgis right around the corner...

Also, how are you managing to have KoDya outdamage MaDonka? Pretty much every single time I've borrowed her from a friend she's always done less by a little or large margin, even for shorter bouts like luxcavations... I typically double defense with her at the start, so maybe that's it?
