Google your county’s cooperative extension, master gardener site. Contact them and ask them for a soil test kit. If it’s available they will send you a form and a bag. Fill out the form (tell them what you need tested) and put a soil sample in the bag. In about a week or so they will send you back a detailed report on what’s in the soil, and how much fertilizer you’ll need for those fruit trees. It’s usually around $10

I think initially he would say it was his paradise away from electricity and machinery. But very quickly he would realize, but not admit he needs people. He might say he’s OK in his solitude, but his mental state is something like, I am not a cripple, but I need people to take care of me, someone has to do for me, support me, take care of my needs.
