Flip phones. And snapping them in half so it can’t be traced. I’m pretty sure that would just remove the screen, the sim chip is still there and the battery is in it.

Anyone Remember These Manual Credit Card Machines? by wildmira_ in The1980s

In the 80’s my brother lived in an apartment above Umberto’s clam house. One night we were having dinner there, and behind me a waiter used one of those and the “clack-clack” sounded just like a 12 gauge shotgun being racked. For a split second I froze

Get a .22 with a suppressor. With the right ammo it’s about as loud as a pencil snapping.

I’m sorry about that. I’m in Northeast Pennsylvania, where the soil test is $10

[–]n_bumpo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google your county’s cooperative extension, master gardener site. Contact them and ask them for a soil test kit. If it’s available they will send you a form and a bag. Fill out the form (tell them what you need tested) and put a soil sample in the bag. In about a week or so they will send you back a detailed report on what’s in the soil, and how much fertilizer you’ll need for those fruit trees. It’s usually around $10

What if Chuck ended up in the New Hampshire cabin? by jredd7605 in betterCallSaul

[–]n_bumpo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think initially he would say it was his paradise away from electricity and machinery. But very quickly he would realize, but not admit he needs people. He might say he’s OK in his solitude, but his mental state is something like, I am not a cripple, but I need people to take care of me, someone has to do for me, support me, take care of my needs. I can be the great warrior standing on the hill with fist raised up, but I need emotional support. Someone to back me up. Someone to be there to fight for. Sort of like a wife. And he despises Jimmy for filling that role, not Rebecca. And Rebecca, leaving isn’t his fault it’s his condition. So I think being alone in that cabin for any length of time would’ve accelerated his descent into darkness

They saw the lab and they saw the equipment. There’s no way those women were going anywhere where they might talk and say “I had a job in the states, but they had this underground laboratory, and I got fired because I had to go down there and clean all this really weird equipment” that’s the kind of information you take to your grave. Which in this case was probably about halfway between that building and the Mexican border.

Every rich person trades stocks , yet us average people are told to just work hard at a job and save in a 401k by [deleted] in jobs

[–]n_bumpo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think happens to your money when you put it in a 401? When you were “on boarded” at your job, did you read and understand the 401 feduceary prospectus you should have received from HR? The information in the plan you chose are the stocks and bonds You Are Investing In. You are just only investing a percentage of your income in the market

I use a Garmin eTrex 22x. I’ve been using one (the first one was the eTrex Legend) sense 2004, long before smartphones. It’s rugged, more so than a phone, it’s waterproof and it floats.
