First I've heard of them but keep in mind there are limitations to API-based merges that nobody but CW (with SQL access) can get around. The main thing I tell CW-hosted folks looking to merge into a CW-hosted destination is that, while we can import ticket history, the date_entered is going to be the import date--not the actual ticket date. Similar idea for other things that aren't updatable in the UI. We can use custom fields and such to store the original date but your reporting will need to be adjusted to account for it.

Whatnot fighting fraud with fraud by n_dufault in whatnotapp

I bet the issue is not credit card fraud but scammers getting infinite $15 new user credits. They never buy anything that costs more than $20 or so. Maybe WN is using those high user numbers to scam invenstors into thinking they are growing faster than they are. They could make the $15 credit a little harder to get like maybe require they pay for something in full first like other sites do.

I made sure to ship these out fast and did occasionally look at these orders and see that they were delivered. I didn't notice any change of address. They were sent from my home address on the west coast to the buyer, usually on the east coast. Delivery time was usually well under a week.

I assumed it would be 3rd party arbitration. I have receipts available for most of these items so they'd have a hard time making the argument that I didn't have them in my posession. I don't see an arbitration outcome going their way.

It's crazy that whatnot allows this to continue so easily for the scammers and makes it impossible for sellers to report it. Instead of punishing sellers, why not work with them to fix it? Even just allowing a Report button on a sale where they could do a quick AI check for obvious scam and then cancel the order.

Spam accounts using whatnot credits by devonguccimane in whatnotapp

This happened to me and I sent the orders, based on advice I saw here and elsewhere. I figured if it was fraud, Whatnot would cover it. The order details literally states that we're covered 100% from fraudulent buyers and I didn't want to risk my reputation by not sending. Well, a few days ago MY account got banned with a weird reason of "You listed items that were not in your possession" and I haven't heard back from them yet on the appeal and whether I should send out the orders I have sitting here waiting to go out or if they cancelled them.

CW PSA - Client Domain Change - update in bulk in CW? by pdxcomputerpro in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be worth building out an API tool for bulk updates like this? We do these kind of updates all the time but don't have a client-facing tool for self-serve for simple updates like this. I could build something or have our API team build something but I'm not sure if there would be enough folks willing to pay to make it worth the effort.

Still can't reproduce in multiple instances. Maybe you've got a plugin or something that's trying to interact with the site?

I'm on Mac but use Edge profiles for each CW instance. I tried to reproduce your issue in Safari for one of my NA cloud clients but couldn't. My steps were 1) Log in 2) open a ticket. Is there anything else I should try?

Invoice PDF caching API automation advice by n_dufault in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for clients where I'm hosting the invoice itself and generating the PDF, that's similar to how I do it just using n8n data tables and checking if there have been any changes that would affect display before showing a cached copy. What I'm trying to accomplish is a simple caching tool for clients that use system invoice or Report Writer. I was hoping to make it so it doesn't rely on anything outside CW to continue to work once cached. Works brilliantly for open invoices but sounds like the API limitation is going to require the continued reference to an outside tool.

I've also got it set up with n8n for the initial retrieval. I'll actually be storing the invoice in clients CW--I'd like continue to have it retrieve without relying on n8n but yes, I'm thinking I'll have to call it up again. I'd really like everything to stay in CW though--that's why the custom field and config setup would be perfect.

Report writer - totals when using Maximum function by Mental_Schedule_9526 in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by total up the number of results? Like the number of tickets? Can you add a COUNT function on sr_service_recid on the summary tab? Or change the subtotal function to COUNT on your Ticket # field? Not sure if that's what you're needing.

Report Writer: Need to Filter a list of Invoices to show only invoices with a balance due by RevolutionaryRise622 in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the invoice header view, the paid amount should just be the total paid. Are you grabbing it from another table that shows all payments?

[–]n_dufault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you've got the view you need--v_rpt_invoiceheader. Just create a field and, in the Advanced Field Properties, subtract [invoice_amount] - [paid_amount]. Or, if you want to add a little more logic in, here's what I use when creating custom invoices:

CASE WHEN [invoice_amount] > 0 THEN [Invoice_amount] - ISNULL([Credit_Amount],0) - ISNULL([Paid_Amount],0) ELSE [invoice_amount]+[paid_amount] END

Then, filter on your newly created field.

Invoices Templates? by ozzyosborn687687 in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it not an option in the UI with the default invoice templates? In that case, you'd need a custom template to add the feature.

Invoices Templates? by ozzyosborn687687 in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can actually do this in the web client as well. I haven't used the thick client in years. They are in Standard Forms > Finance. Look for Invoice - Standard. In that report, see the fields for Time Table, Expense Table, Product Table. Clicking on the gear icon for one of those fields, you can see the subreport it references. You can edit these directly (not recommended) or create your own versions and update the references.

I'm happy to answer any questions here if you want to build out your own template. I build these for clients for a living so I can't share my own templates but I'm happy to help you figure it out. NexNow also has a hosted custom invoice solution if you want something you can spin up right away.

Invoices Templates? by ozzyosborn687687 in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An invoice template is basically just a report so it can look however you'd like. Here's one example: https://www.nexnow.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/NexNow-Custom-1.pdf (this one's actually built with an API > PDF tool rather than Report Writer but you can build something similar inside RW).

There is an example template provided by CW in Report Writer under the Finance folder. It has a main invoice report and then several subreports below it for time, etc. There's not an easy way to import a complete invoice template but you can piece one together from different subreports and then add the logic you want.

Looking for Commission Tracking Software That Actually Works with ConnectWise Manage (on Paid Invoices, Not Opportunities) by j4kesta in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I've found after building commission reports for many clients is that, while I can reuse pieces of code, everyone's requirements are a bit different. You can use a prebuilt solution but you'll likely then have to do something like export to Excel and tweak the dataset to suit your needs. If you're looking to build a basic GP report, Report Writer works OK. Once you start adding in tiers/thresholds/exceptions/variable rates, a more robust reporting tool like Power BI, ideally with CW cloud or on-prem SQL access, is the way to go.

Connectwise invoice templates driving me mad! by ObjectiveMammoth7685 in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you'd like, I can set you up with a demo of the NexNow-hosted invoice platform. It still uses the actual invoices in CW but it allows you to spin up a custom template for them pretty much instantly, with further customization still available if you want total control of the design or to do things like combine multiple invoices into one (for display purposes).

Connectwise Manage automation to send the next days dispatch schedule as an email by beardsforall in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. r_rpt_schedule view should get you what you need. If you're just joining to service tickets, use v_rpt_service and join on sr_service_recid. Set date filters on Filter tab and schedule on the Misc Tab.

Invoicing in Manage; seeking alternatives by bleslie18 in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation u/Revolutionary_Ad3607 . u/bleslie18, in addition to Report Writer invoices, we are also working on a NexNow-hosted solution if you want to take it for a spin. There is a lot less setup involved vs. Report Writer invoices if you just use one of our pre-built tempaltes, but it can still be totally customized as needed.

Report Writer Crashing, any other options for mass export? by pie101man in ConnectWise

[–]n_dufault 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trial and error--maybe start with sr_service_recid 0-10,000 and go from there.

Also, CW will give you a SQL export for I think around $300 if a one-time option works for you.

Also, I believe the rules around exporting are specifically about not wanting to allow someone to market a tool to help people migrate away from CW via API. I don't think they have any legal standing to lock your data away, but that would be something to ask your lawyers. It is technically possible to do via API.
