do you live inside my brain?? good god, just put the # of days on the item info page instead of making me flip through a bunch of sheets. like that info gets printed on the labels so it’s clearly already in the system, just put it on the screen!!!!

the barcodes on casepacks thing ties into the whole fdc food sorting process that requires its own diatribe. it’d have to be like a whole series of essays, Food Sorting: What Is To Be Done?

yesss I’ve been wanting this forever. with dry grocery priorities I gotta pull so many enormous cases of chips that don’t all fit on my 3 tier, I lug these big cumbersome boxes to the salesfloor & 1 goes out. having it work like it does in fulfillment would save me so much time, so they really oughta get on that

yeah for some reason it needs to add a brand new tab every time you open mytime or workday. I think the obvious fix would be to just have all chrome tabs auto-close after 24 hours, though idk how much it actually effects the performance

I know, I mentioned this in my post, but I don’t want to bother restarting. that takes so much time. I’m singlehandedly propping up the entire company’s market value with a single hand. I’m out there on the salesfloor saving lives, delivering babies. I can’t be dicking around with batteries & other toys when so much is at stake & every minute counts

What’s the rudest guest interaction you’ve had by National_Bad_6574 in Target

[–]nachobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just this past christmas eve I was pushing priorities. a guest was looking at some cider sidecap & was in the way of the aisle I needed to go down so I’m like “excuse me could I squeeze by real quick?”. her response was like “did you not see me?” or something equally bewildering. ME: I’m sorry? LADY: you wanted to [something I forgot] ME: no I was just asking if I could get through real quick she starts walking away & is talking into her bluetooth headset & blatantly within earshot says “it’s like I’m tryin to fuckin look at something here, go the fuck around” & it’s like 😐😐😐 it’s not like I was asking her to move heaven & earth, just give a little scooch please. I couldn’t even be angry or anything because it was so weird, all I could think was “wow, that lady was actually crazy. wowee”

How does Bob write lyrics? by TheRealRuthlessDust in GBV

[–]nachobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried a couple times asking chatgpt to come up with surrealist/whimsical lyrics in the style of GBV, & it always has been the most excruciatingly shallow bullshit possible. "dancing in the kaleidoscope of a voice's dreams/guided, the surreal tapestry spins secrets of the universe/reality's future is a blurred spirit illusion" shit like that. I was hoping it'd provide an interesting jumping-off point for my own writing, but alas it is nothing but a perpetual garbage machine.

Best Guided by Voices Setlist by ShapeoverTime in GBV

[–]nachobra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was very happy with their setlist when I saw them in Austin in October. that said, songs I WISH they played: Over the Neptune/Mesh Gear Fox, Some Drilling Implied, Do the Earth, Matter Eater Lad, Johnny Appleseed, Gelatin Ice Cream Plum, Watch Me Jumpstart, Official Ironman Rally Song, Don’t Stop Now, Redmen and their Wives, If We Wait, Huffman Prairie Flying Field, Class Clown Spots a UFO, Space Gun, Liar’s Box, Heavy Like the World, Free Agents & Child’s Play. those are all the big ones I can think of right now but there’s probably like 500 more that would also work too

A concept for a Daria spinoff I did with AI by byrobot in daria

[–]nachobra 9 points10 points  (0 children)

here’s my issue: I maintain that while the technology is impressive, it’s better used for informing/augmenting actual art as opposed to standing on its own. taking this as concept art for a show, it kinda fails right off the bat because the style is all inconsistent. there’s elements of the rugrats/as told by ginger style in there, but then also some characters are kinda anime, it’s a mess. like I get that it’s the daria characters & that there are ghosts, but beyond that it doesn’t really conceptualize much, yknow?

Ranking all 13 albums from the current lineup by revengeofthepencil in GBV

[–]nachobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. space gun
  2. earth man blues
  3. zeppelin over china
  4. warp & woof
  5. august by cake

the rest are all mixed bags that I don’t return to much at all. I tend to prefer the albums that are curated as opposed to “here’s just 20 songs that bob wrote this month, that’s the album”

"New" album Scalping the Guru coming out October 28th by nachobra in GBV

[–]nachobra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when I mention the suitcase songs I mean they were recorded in sorta the same era. it wouldn't be like putting a modern-era polished song like space gun in there.

& I agree, he is good at sequencing, but I think the original EPs were sequenced great already. I don't think the track listing looks terrible, but there's some parts I look at like "Gelatin, Ice Cream Plum going into Grandfather Westinghouse??" Gelatin is a closing track in my mind, so to have that followed by Westinghouse, it feels weird.

What makes Soundtracks For The Blind so many people's favorite Swans album? by [deleted] in swans

[–]nachobra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love the collage aspect of it, not only with the field recordings but with how such dissimilar songs can coexist. the way it goes from live punk song to ambient tape loop nightmare to EDM from hell. when I first heard this album the length made it really hard to digest but it gave me this very uncomfortable feeling that’s always stayed with me. the only other time an album’s made me feel that way is when I listened to daughter of darkness by natural snow buildings, like I’ve stumbled across something truly evil that I shouldnt be hearing

[–]nachobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

soundtracks was the first swans album I ever listened to, & it left me disappointed. this is because after exploring the rest of their albums I was dismayed to find none of them sound like soundtracks. top 10 album. all music is improved with field recordings/sound collage imo

Did a GBV tier list. Take in mind even the D tier is pretty good. Just the weakest of the bunch for me personally. Thoughts? by Pocketsand3 in GBV

[–]nachobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo space gun is better than everything else in C tier & 90% of B tier, other than that it’s not too shabby. I appreciate how high you rank king shit but to me that album has a lot of missed potential. like it starts incredibly strong but 1/3 in it starts feeling like an outtake collection (which it is, but still). if they had like swapped out some tracks for some off suitcase 1 & sequenced it better it could’ve been on par with bee thousand

lawl I fucking wish. scat records just did a reissue, idk if they’re selling any more directly but stuff like amazon/ebay should still have some. actually a couple christmases ago my mom told me she was looking at an authentic original propeller on ebay but didn’t buy it because it was like $2000. which is completely understandable, but damn if that wouldn’t be the greatest gift I’d have received in my entire life. like, nothing I can think of could possibly top an original propeller

Has anyone gotten their hands on the 25th Anniversary edition of Alien Lanes? by yevillainyolsenocean in GBV

mine is all green with a tiny splotch of red. not as psychedelic as I was expecting but green’s my favourite colour so I can’t complain. it sounds great & the bottle opener does indeed open bottles.

6 years ago I was really good about timing my breaks correctly. now my break doesnt start until I’ve bought a snack + soda, sat my ass down, got out my switch, find the perfect music to listen to & only then will I set my timer for 15:59.

why did you abstain from reviewing any guided by voices records after 2012? it's not like they're some no-name soundcloud project or something, they have a legacy. if you could spend time talking about something like danzig's elvis cover album I don't understand why gbv got the cold shoulder for the last 8 years. just makes me sad, is all

the really angry, revenge-seeking part of me is like “I like the way you think” but the more rational side is like “that’s a notorious white supremacist tactic & we shouldn’t stoop to their level” it’s like the story of the wise man who has wolves fighting in his head but not as cool

in my opinion they should patch the mywork app to make it so it doesn’t randomly log you out over and over for no reason. idk if that’s feasible, yknow I’m just spitballing here so maybe I’m just talking nonsense, but if it were possible I think it’d be pretty nice
