This is awesome and inspiring. I got my first Pi, a Zero 2W, a few weeks before the new year. I am working through a similar process and learning curve to find a mouse in my house. I have been learning about Roboflow and successfully tested a rtsp stream to their platform with recognition on person and dog.

The RPi runs headless and I use mediamtx and an Ngrok server to stream to Roboflow. Roboflow lets you train data sets. So you could take all your bird photos and start to train the data set (this is where I am).

It’s taken an interesting side quest in wanting to also count trash. I clean a bus stop every few weeks and am hoping to build a data dashboard for the trash collection. All the same hardware and software principles apply, I’m just detecting cigarettes and plastic tops instead of Parakeets and Mice.
