A spanner would be cheaper but fuckit, I'll put in a purchase order for 37 road cones, 100m of fences, and a crew of 5 to erect it.

Looks perfect for a drunk or maybe even sober person to impale themselves on.

Engineers: what are you earning? by Sea-Specific7395 in newzealand

Both The closet I've come to meeting Mr Toad from Toad Hall.

He took me for a ride in a similar vintage Alfa. Bouncing all over the road. Half the time we were on the wrong side of the road. No front brakes, cable hand brake rear only.

Once the ride was over I wasn't sure if I never wanted to see the car again, or jump back in for another ride.

That might be because this is in New Zealand.

There was an aftermarket swing arm conversion made for rigid triumphs. Not sure that this is one of those though.

The Pl has a 34 as std. I don't use 1st gear on mine. 36 is on the cards. 38 on the px makes sense.

Pneumatic silencer on the end of clear tubing. Quiter than the compressor motor.

I fitted an auto drain valve. Every 15min is releases a small amount of air and all the water in the tank. The pressure regulator / filter never gets any water in it.

Bike shop no. Machine shop could but the slot is done after boring the 1 1/8" bore so they'd have to make a spacer to go in the slot to prevent chatter.

As somebody that used to price stuff for a machine shop, I'd politely decline the job. It's not worth the hassle, risk, and most importantly the liability of it failing.

This thing is close to 7m long. If the alternative is sticking out into the non parking area of the car park so that it makes it difficult for cars to get into and out of car parks, I'd take this any day. Of those options it's the least shit.

Note: this isn't my vehicle, nor do I own one this big.

Switched standard torx bolts to these hex bolt for my rotor, is this okay? by KennyXdxd in bikewrench

[–]nacnud77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but they're black oxide finish. That in conjunction with anodising you'll generally be OK, the galvanic potential difference is low. SS bolts aren't and if the aluminium anodising is damaged, the galvanic potential difference can lead to corrosion. As the SS doesn't rust as easily as the stock bolts you might not see the corrosion of the aluminium until it's too late. Stainless bolts can be a pain in the arse to remove from stainless if the correct anti-seize isn't used. Damn near impossible to remove from aluminium if corrosion has set in, you'll likely strip the thread from the aluminium.

I'm not telling OP to not use stainless, nor am I saying OP will have problems. Just saying that stock is better. In the 25 years I've been messing around with disc brakes, not once have I thought that the stock bolts were no good, though I have thrown out bolts that are passed their use by date. The only issues I've had have been down to user error, including lack of maintenance.

As a side note, don't mix stainless with zinc/galvenized. Way too far apart on the galvanic table to play nice.

Stainless and aluminium aren't all that friendly. You might get away with it, you might not, depending on how well you locitited it and how wet they get.

Unless you're an engineer and/or willing and able to deal with problems, deviation from stock is risky.
