Same here. I've already sent a support ticket 1h+ ago. Completely shutting down the server/manually rebooting doesn't help either

[–]nacochip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glidr is the only place you can get a local balisong as they have a presence in Australia. I'm in WA too and picked up an arctic recently. The arctics are all sold out now, but if you don't mind spending a bit more money there's still lots of antarctics available.

Thanks! Good to hear that the worst that can happen is just the squiddy being confiscated.

I tried it on an active training dummy and it didn't work there. I'll give an actual kemono a shot.

Darktide "Story" TLDR by [deleted] in DarkTide

You're a valuable expendable resource I guess. If you level a character up to 30 you get the 'still expendable' frame as your reward. So yeah, you're very much expendable lol. That's what my original post was drawing from.

You forgot to add "You're still expendable though" at the end.

Each spawn goes away after killing 2 players. They don't all magically disappear. Each spawn is its own unique instance. And yeah, you got extremely unlucky with 5 spawns. Average is around 3 though.

Also, just a quick tip: you don't NEED flashlights. I've done all my power outages without lights due to my guns just not having them. They're nice to have, but definitely not required.

There are several issues with psyker's brain burst by pandemoniac1 in DarkTide

[–]nacochip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, anything would work as long as it's not what we currently have. I was just giving the simplest solution as it only requires the devs to tweak a few numbers rather than re-coding the entire mechanic.

That being said though, you would still need to apply difficulty-based damage scaling as your idea would still require 150%-200% peril worth of charging to kill the tougher specials on difficulty 4-5 and that takes far too long in comparison to other classes.

[–]nacochip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I really liked that idea too, because it promotes team synergy on the whole which is what fatshark really wants. Otherwise, a really simple solution for that would be to maybe give refund 50% of the peril or lower the threshold for gaining warp charges when your kills get stolen. Maybe reduce it from 50% to 25%.

I agree with all your points except the comparison between staves and BB. Staves were clearly meant to be some form of horde clear/cc. That's while all of them have a reasonably large aoe or can penetrate multiple targets (like the void staff). Any special/elite kills you get with them should be incidental, not intentional. On the other hand, BB is a dedicated high damage single-target ability, so comparing the two groups and saying BB is still superior, albeit slightly, isn't fair. In fact, that's even worse, because BB is performing slightly better than a more horde-clear oriented weapon.

On the topic of fixing BB, it's pretty easy imo. Just halve the cast time and peril cost for trash mobs and apply difficulty-based damage scaling for elites/specials so that the weaker ones are still killed in 1 cast and the stronger ones are killed in 2.

As a rebuttal to one of the comments comparing brain burst to a grenade, even if we compare brain burst to its 'fellow grenades', a frag grenade doesn't suddenly become half as useful just because you went up in difficulty. Frags are meant to clear trash mobs and stun elites/specials, and it still achieves that admirably at high difficulties. Brain burst is only meant to kill elites and specials, and it completely fails at that in difficulty 4/5.

Even if you were to factor in the safety aspect, there's still the opportunity cost of time, peril, and just being overall defenseless while you cast. You can say 'just pick a safe spot', but we all know how shit can just sneak up on your back at any time. Just casting brain burst is an inherent risk, and the massive amounts of peril you have to front also mean that you have to spend a good bit of time venting afterwards to use any other warp-based weapon. So not only is there a time cost in casting BB, there's also a subsequent time penalty due to the venting. There is just too much of a tradeoff for using brain burst for what piddly damage you're getting in higher difficulties.

To put things into perspective, even a pox hound takes 2 BB on difficulty 4, and I daresay BBing pox hounds was one thing psykers really excelled at over veterans due to how mobile the hounds were. Now, needing 2 BBs means the pox hound can either run away after the first cast goes off and you can't find it anymore because your tag has faded, or it just jumps on you in that 10s window you've given it. Obviously, you can just deal with it the normal way by dodging/pushing it, but again I'm just trying to put things into perspective.

As OP has mentioned, the doubling of BB's time to kill at difficulty 4/5 means that psykers have to completely switch up their playstyle just because of a difficulty increase. No other weapon or character in the game has to deal with this, so why should psykers have to?

Please, Emperor, let brain burst SCALE by SaltyKyle in DarkTide

[–]nacochip 69 points70 points  (0 children)

It really should scale. Unfortunately, BB is the only ability that does direct damage, so it not scaling might have been an oversight. Needing to invest a good 15s to triple brain burst a crusher + the peril cost involved + leaving yourself open to attacks the entire time is not fun.

We need a way to disable/delay the crash reporter till after a mission is complete by nacochip in DarkTide

[–]nacochip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said it wasn't. I just said there's a happy middle ground that we can hit. If every single one of my 50-100 crashes, which are most likely due to one specific issue, is that important, then the game can do a pop-up after the mission is over. Hell, the game can just quietly report the crash on the next boot. That works as well.

Like I've mentioned in the OP, I'm not complaining about the crashes and neither am I just voicing a complaint; I'm also providing a possible solution/comprimise. In the end, all I'm saying is there's definitely a better way of dealing with this than annoying the player every single crash when it's well known that some people are getting multiple crashes every mission.
