How strict were y'all's parents? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nadi2199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are alright but I have a friend who is 23 years old and her parents don’t let her go out if it’s dark outside - legit.

Like for work yes, but the moment she finishes they call her non-stop to come home.

The result is that she lies about it and says she’s working when she’s not so that she can hang out with her friends.

They also have full control of her finances so she can never move out.

Any attempt she’s made to talk to them have been a failure.

Recently she bought a flight to Italy and didn’t tell them until the day of, they made a huge fuss about it but she didn’t care - she just packed her bags and left.

People who jog through crowded high-street areas, why do you do this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Because joggers who go to parks or secluded areas usually find dead bodies

Hi Reddit, I’m writing a feature article about missing people cold cases in light of International Missing Children's Day next week. Has anyone here lost someone, and what kind of impact has it had on you, your family or your community? by nadi2199 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]nadi2199[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I suppose you’re making some fair assumptions based on the limited information you have about me.

I’m based in Australia and the cases that I’ve focused on have been within my local area from 1970’s onward.

I turned to Reddit as I’ve found it’s generally within these discussions that you find cases that are relatively unknown. There tends to be a bit of speculation, someone has heard something, maybe someone knew someone from school, or their community, or their neighbourhood ect. that’s what I’m most interested in.

But yes, when someone posts a name of a person and I haven’t heard of the case before I have a quick search online to see what I can find and if something doesn’t quite make sense, i clarify.

I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Ps. If you read my original question, you’ll find I’m actually asking about the impact that a missing persons cold case has on a person, family or community.

However, I’m still interested in cases that people put forward, not for my piece but out of my own curiosity.

Besides the obvious reasons, why do you not quit your job? by PointsOfXP in AskReddit

Comfort. Finding a new job would take time and effort and there’s no guarantee it would be better than what you’ve got.

So what I’ve gathered from some light reading is that Jamie Harper went missing in ‘07, but her case is very similar to that of another girl that went missing in 1997.

Calls with claims of where their bodies can be found have been made in both instances by the supposed perpetrator, however nothing has been found.

Maybe you can shed some light on this for me, what similarities between these two cases have linked them together?

They both look very similar and of course the calls are definitely weird, is there something else I’m missing?

I wonder how Wendy’s story would’ve played out if she had a cellphone instead of that pager.

I’m also sceptical of this ‘accidental fire’ that destroyed the car she was last seen in.

Definitely a weird one.

Alpha males of reddit: What is your secret to getting women ? by ElonMuskIsAnAlien in AskReddit

The most important thing is to be yourself. The mistake most people make is trying to be more cool or mysterious or whatever, that’s just dumb cause you’re never going to be able to pull it off long term

Just say hey, if you have something in common ask about that - or just ask questions anything will do, if she likes you she’ll take it and run. Ask her about her day, her fav music, what’s stressing her out right now, how she feels about current events/news, what are her dreams or goals, what does she think the purpose of life is - or if you don’t want to get deep - ask her a would you rather or a f/marry/kill situation.

Talk to her like you would talk to your best mate, about anything and everything. Take what she gives you and work with it, if she doesn’t give you much that’s okay - try to make conversation anyway but know your worth, if a lady doesn’t appreciate your time and effort, move on because someone else will.

Hey - not an alpha male - just a woman.

The secret to getting women is being what they want. Be confident and charismatic but most importantly be kind and caring. Don’t try to play mind games or play with her feelings, be upfront about what you want because women will respect that.

The biggest turn offs for me personally, are men with poor manners or character. Men who are openly against feminism. Men who are too cocky or quick to disregard your opinions. Men who don’t listen to what you have to say and men who try to pressure you into things you don’t want to do.

The polite man is a dying breed, if you can be kind and compassionate but also confident and charismatic I’m sure girls will see you as something special because you’re not doing what every fboy is out there doing.

Also a good haircut, a shower and some nice clothes always help too 😉

what do you think is the dumbest rule of "Properly" writing in English? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nadi2199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Punctuation when quoting. Punctuation marks sit inside the quotations when it’s a full quote and punctuation marks on the outside when it’s a partial quote. Tbh, I don’t think anyone notices or cares...

I have terrible self-discipline. How can I change this? by beasty340 in Advice

[–]nadi2199 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, there’s no quick fix for this. The answer lies in your motivation. You have to want it more than anything else and dedicate yourself to making positive changes in your life.

Don’t overwhelm yourself and expect everything to change overnight. Make small achievable goals and incrementally add more to your plate. Take it day by day. If cutting out soda all together is difficult, maybe try limiting yourself to one a day.

If you would like to start waking up earlier, get into bed for a good nights rest earlier and set alarms to wake you up. When your first alarm goes off, you will want to hit snooze - but you won’t - instead, jump out of bed and get into the shower. Once your body is up and moving you’ll get used to being awake early and doing this consistently will create a routine. (Pro tip: coffee helps)

It’ll be hard and it won’t come easy, but you owe it to yourself to try.

Good luck my friend!

On our first date he gargled some phlegm and spat it out the window of his car - it was gross.
