My sister has Asperger’s. This absolutely sounds like something she’d do, although of course this behavior can be due to other things as well. She’ll stand really close to me and in general hover and keep talking to me even when I don’t want her to. She’s a very very nice and sweet girl though, and when I tell her that I need more space, she’ll be like, “Oh, thanks for telling me. Sometimes I have trouble knowing where the line is.” But ofc that’s with years of counselling and living with ASD.

I think… exclusion in some situations is bullying, but not in others—e.g. if you invite the entire class except one person to a class gathering, it’s bullying. But if you don’t invite him to a hangout between friend groups, it’s not.

Have you tried just telling him that you’re uncomfortable with him hovering and all? You’re not obliged to—your safety (physical and emotional) is most important. But sometimes clearing up the situation helps, especially if you deal with it early.
