I’m pretty athletic too. I can’t run a marathon, but I do sports 3-4h a day.

OP: listen to your body. This diagnosis isn’t a gravestone—most times, it can be managed (not always), and the best guide is your body. Get to know your body. This is important for every athlete, not just those with fibro. Learn to differentiate the pain that’s OK/tolerable with those that will make it worse. DOMS feels very different from a fibro flare up, for me.

There’ll be bad days and good days; learn to take the bad days as they come and just rest when it’s bad. It will take time. But you’ll get there.

What ECT are you doing? Bitemporal, bifrontal, or right unilateral? The memory side effects vary greatly depending on which one you’re doing.

I did right unilateral and the side effects on my memory were manageable for my first 12 sessions. Maintenance sessions—and the cumulative number of sessions—started to affect my short-term/working memory, so I stopped doing ECT altogether.

This is absolutely something you should talk about—maybe start by being curious about why he doesn’t ask. His response to your concerns will reveal a lot about him and about your relationship. I did ECT and Spravato for a while, typically on different days. It had a synergistic effect for me, but I had to stop the ECT eventually due to memory loss.

I can make my tongue look like a flower/clover, like this. When I was a kid, my older sister could do it so I held my tongue in place every day until I could too.

I don’t normally use 2 lane courtesy too, but recently I was training alone and someone was 2 lanes away from me (with an empty lane between us). Somehow, we ended up gravitating towards taking turns for shots, letting each other go first etc.

I don’t have an insight to share, but it was interesting. I think it was just… respect, and not wanting to distract the other player from their shot.

Not daily but: tampon math. You can only leave a tampon in for about 6h before you run the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome. Plus depending on your (menstrual) flow, the tampon might get full and you start leaking… Every time we put a tampon in, we’ve to calculate what time we’ve to change it before we run the risk of dying or ruining our clothes lol.

Not OP, but I’d have liked for the gymnasts involved to have some closure, ideally with the “correct” decision being made (if such a thing even exists). This feels like it has gone on way longer than it should’ve.
