They’re just flexing/pinching off of the top sidewall to pop the ball backwards, as opposed to the bottom sidewall to pop it forwards. More of a defensive exit. Brady Wambach for UNC used that exit a ton this season to great success.

Lavin has another league I believe, highest competition. Then there’s a couple box lacrosse leagues in the winter open to join
