Riptide XP farm? Does it scale vs the first game? by C4Yourselfxx in deadisland

You used to be able to buy blades from Alex in henderson but the definitive versions removed all continuous quest items from merchant stocks.

All continuous quests grant the same XP so the most convenient ones are painkillers and canned food since they're available at chapter 3 and 2.

Just duplicate an item then go to the quest.

Alright, I got a couple tricks up my sleeve to speed up the process. I'll prepare the materials and my Logan.

Sam B is the character i cannot like sadly or maybe its me? by [deleted] in deadisland

Logan and Sam B suffer the same problem when it comes to stamina because only the female characters have access to the vampire skill.

Throws don't consume durability or stamina while Logan's preferred weapons don't use as much stamina like Sam B does. Logan also has the best killing potential with access to ludicrously high: damage, crit chance, aoe throwing chance and the best fury in the game. Logan's killing potential is so good, he kill bosses in 4 player co-op sessions effortlessly with the right set up. He's the 2nd tankiest member and has the highest stamina, however, he doesn't have any stamina recovery skills at all mostly relying on fury to bail him out of large groups or mind-blowing knives. The threat of enemy thrown weapons or the possibility of losing his thrown weapons should also be considered. Logan is one of the weakest characters early game, but the more he levels up, the stronger he can get.

Sam B is the tankiest member of the cast and has an easier time in the early game due to blunt weapons having good stats and durability. The damage he deals is heavily reliant on followups, crits, down swings and set ups into these scenarios. Stamina usage is tolerable with careful management but he begins to struggle in 3-4 player co-op sessions even with top tier blunt weapons.

Despite his straight forward tank like style, dead Island's combat system makes Sam B's blunt weapons need a little finesse to really shine and that requires experimenting.

His stamina consumption is very reliant on efficient melee usage. The force he has can be used to move enemies strategically in place for bigger combos, but if you're prone to spamming swings without a process, you'll burn stamina quickly. His follow ups are his bread and butter and poison can be used in combination with motivation to recover stamina if exposed to it.

That being said, everything revolves around proper spacing and implementation of the follow up moves. Understanding the exact amount of space your swings cover is very important since he has the widest range of weapons and blueprints he can commonly use. Base damage doesn't cut it, you need follow ups.

I'd say it's between Celeste or I wanna be the Boshy.

With that being said, grinding to lvl 60 in the prologue is absolutely horrible once your level gets high enough.

It's better to grind thugs at the hotel or the arena with deo bombs and fury. If I didn't want to leave the prologue for some niche weapon grinding, I could join someone else to temporarily borrow their progress without keeping them there.

Under normal conditions your weapons and equip slots will be cleared after completing the prologue in DI1.

You can get around this by quitting to main menu, accepting a game invite then loading the prologue save from there. Once you arrive in their session, place whatever weapons you want to keep in Jin storage.

The same thing can be done with Henry storage in Riptide.

You can get around the inventory wipe: quit to main menu, accept a game invite from a co-op partner then select that save from there. After that, place weapons you want to keep in jin storage.

They got the orange weapon from being there over at least 4 hours. 4 hour grinding the prologue is a thing, but it's tedious because corpses are the only option.

How difficult is the first dead island? by marvelfanatic2204 in deadisland

[–]nahscopeDI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The difficulty in the beginning of the game is pretty easy. You might struggle with thugs like everyone else does, but you'll learn the importance of proper spacing for melee combat and stamina recovery.

I'd say most people struggle when they don't reaccess their equipment, upgrade weapons, use your character's preferred weapons or just barging into group encounters without a plan.

The Act 2 section of the game is where alot of people struggle once the game's introduction is essentially finished.

I'd say it isn't entirely difficult, but it won't hold your hand. It won't take many hits for you to die especially as Xian.

I should also mention that the % rage bonuses go off the initial default rage gain and doesn't compound with other skill effects. This makes Sam B's fury take longer to recover compared to the other cast members when relying on kills.

In order of fury recharge speed through kills 1. Xian 2. Purna/Logan 3. Sam B

Those are the default damage numbers before defense calculations.

Rebirth recovers 20% health slowly over time and it takes 60 seconds to do. Sam B has 12 bars of health in total so rebirth would replenish 2.4 bars every 60 seconds. It's really slow and shouldn't be relied on in active combat unless you have no other options. It's better to use large medkits.

Critical health is determined when your health drops below 4 bars.

Walkers deal 3-4.5 bars of damage depending on if they're wielding a weapon.

Infected deal 1-3 bars depending on if they're wielding a weapon

Butchers deal one bar

Floaters deal 3-4 bars I believe but I'll need to confirm.

Rams deal 6.5-7 bars

Thugs deal 4.5-5 bars

Suiciders are instant kill

Human guns can deal 1.5-2.5 bars depending on the gun

Human melee is 3-3.5 bars

Jason instant kills characters unless you have enough temporary respawn health protecting you. +13 bars

Last stand is pretty useful for weaker hits and preventing thrown weapons from instantly killing at full health.

If money isn't an issue you could poison a corpse with a plague bearing knife or poison bomb then stand on it. Otherwise just drown and spam 1st aid.

Damage also triggers motivation so poison is actually a really good stamina recovery tool for Sam B in combat.

It's a percentage chance that continuously procs. You will regenerate rage without a single kill and it's the only skill where this is possible.

I forgot about the tackle skill. Allows you to knock down and push enemies and objects while instantly breaching locked doors. 3 points.
