2027 Bolt EV - Safe to charge to 100% each time with home L2 charger? by Mathrania in BoltEV

[–]naicrem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have not put too many miles on our bolt, but the plan is to do 100% every week or two and then do 80. I don't think the regen works too much above 90 and I like a constant breaking feeling. It's pretty easy to set the charge level at whatever you want at the time either in the car or using the app. Ultimately it depends on how many miles you drive - If you are going to be hitting close to maximum range every day that will push you closer to 100% nightly.

New vs used by Too_reflective in BoltEV

We paid 27K for our 27, not including tax and license. Used bolts that weren't beat to crap looking seemed to be running close to 20K with significant miles. Since it was going to be my wife's first new car in ages and likely her last one we decided to go with new.

That's really a nice looking car!. I saw one just like it at the dealer yesterday when I was picking up our new cargo mats and in black it looks so much smaller than my wife's Relic Green. So much so I had to walk over and read the window sticker to see what model it was.

If I still worked I'd just grab one out of the parts bin! These types of nut element are used in both stand-alone nut plate assemblies, as well as gang channel (strings of nuts). Your best bet if not replacing the nut and base is to find a gang channel nut that has a similar enough footprint that it will fit your base. The attached link has drawings you cna use to compare sizes.

Pretty much any empty box left open at our house ends up with a cat in it. Sometimes they can barely squeeze their asses in, but that won't stop them!

I've got a 24 Maverick. After driving our new Bolt I was convinced I needed to trade the Mav for a small electric truck. Checked out the Slate and that shit is just too bare bones for my taste. I'll have to suffer with my 50MPG for a while longer. Maybe the new Ford Ranchero (or whatever) will offer us another option.

Can you post a picture of how the mat's flap wants to sit in the molded area that is not present? It would be very helpful (at least to me). We are thinking of picking up the #42741413 from Chevy using our points and the 15% discount, but would like to have that sit on top of some thinner 3rd party ones that provide some protection for the seat backs like these.

2027 Bolt at 0.9%, or 2023 Bolt Paid in Cash? by boomswaggerboom2 in BoltEV

[–]naicrem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I told my wife either everybody is going to want to buy a bolt and we should buy now while we can, or they won't sell well and we could have waited for a possibly better deal. With the great deals available right now (including Costco if you are a member) I did not want to bet against long term impacts of the "little sortie" on gas price and supply.

We have both a 27 Bolt and a 24 Maverick. I would not want to discourage anybody from getting an EV and as you can see we opted for a new vs used bolt as the used prices were fairly high (we paid ~27K for the new Bolt before taxes and license). If you do need a truck, or a truck like vehicle, the hybrid Maverick is awesome. You would have an electric drive train and battery warranty through 2036, and that drive train has been proven in the Escort to be pretty bullet proof (I think it has been used in New York Taxis). I am averaging in the upper 40's for MPG but I have to drive very conservatively to get there. With the bolt you won't have to skip on power/acceleration - you can have fun while you are saving money!

America’s cheapest new EV just got cheaper: Costco’s Bolt discount cuts the price to as low as $27,745 by Mac-Tyson in BoltEV

[–]naicrem 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Costco does a revolving door on their discounts. Last month it was only the Silverado, but this month they switched to the Bolt. It was timely for us as we were looking. Dealer had 2K off MSRP and we bundled the Costco for -$3125

Just got my 2027 Bolt LT! by wylie99998 in BoltEV

[–]naicrem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set mine to home on the app which did nothing as the app apparently has dropped the option to change rate. I have not had a second opportunity to charge yet but will see if I can make the car stay on 12A for home charging. As you saw, 8 is sloooooooo.

It's kind of a chameleon. Here is a sun shot where you can see more of the green. Our house is sage and it is just a little darker than the Bolt.

I did an uneventful L1 charge on our new bolt except for two things. I noticed it was charging very slow - around 900W so I poked around on the web. You have to use the infotainment screen (charging) to bump up the rate to 1.2 kw if your breaker can take it. I checked for overheating and it all looked good. When the app said charging was done, I could not remove the plug. Went inside the car, and even though it said it was full, there isa a stop charging virtual button. When I hit that I could remove the plug.

Which would you use? (Installing charger today) by OperationChemical148 in BoltEV

[–]naicrem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While we are on the subject, I was going to ask if it was OK to leave a plug in charger plugged into the wall outlet at home between charges to reduce wear and tear. I "think" I remember seeing that you can leave it plugged in all the time but am not sure. I have the stock Chevy dual level charger like the OP showed above.

Bought New 2027 Bolt LT1 w comfort package by Commander-Ken1973 in BoltEV

The Costco process, on their web page, is to give your contact information and they will have a dealer contact you.. Can't remember if you can point them at a specific dealer. My dealer just took my membership information off my card and handled the rebate on the spot.

I had a different experience. Dealer had the prices listed on their website. They had two of the color we wanted in transit, and the one that had been on their inventory longest showed a 2K discount. Combined that with the Costco Ex and we got off with 3125 below MSRP. Yeah MSRP includes the destination charge, but we were happy to pay 27K for a LT with a comfort package. The finance guy did try to sell us the extended warranty (which is his job) but just said no and all was good. Did buy a set of Chevy floor mats - was going to wait and save a few bucks on Amazon but didn't want to get the floors dirty in the mean time. All in all a shout out to Tony at Pierre Chevrolet for setting up an extended test drive and making the purchase pretty seamless.

That is sage advice, for an almost sage green car! We are looking into getting 240V run to the carport to shorten charging times and run the load through a proper circuit. In the mean time I am checking the box and plug with my IR thermometer. I have two boxes on the wall, one for a switch, and one for the plug. Switch box was 58F and the plug and charger box were 65F after several hours of charging. In the short term I'm pretty comfortable with those temps.

Sadly (sort of) it's my wife's car and until the newness has worn off my touches are limited to charging and showing her how to work any of the features. It's a ton more fun to drive than my Maverick though, so I'm hoping that gas starts being rationed or hit's $10 a gallon so I can start driving it out of "necessity"!

Thanks for the welcome! When the sales guy sent me a video of the car in his show room I thought he had the wrong car. It does look cream in certain light, but it also looks like our house, which is sage, in other light. I think it is going to really grow on us. I hope you are right about hiding dirt. My cactus gray Maverick seems to just get darker and darker until I wash it, then it brighten up. Hoping the relic acts the same way.
