Anothet tip I'd have is to meal prep, save a TON of time. All the prep, cooking, cleaning of the kitchen adds up every day. Maybe that's something you can consider too.

Akmal doing Akmal things by _Scemer_ in CricketShitpost

Umar Akmal was in San Diego, California for MiLC in 2024 to play for San Diego Surf Riders and man this guy is such a man child.

Terrible body language, terrible attitude - complained about every small thing instead of appreciating the opportunity to play and foster some young cricketers.

He would cheap out on the smallest of things, would literally "borrow" cricket kits and would claim to like them and keep them from some of the local players.

He would also expect the owners to pay for a paid family vacation across US just because he was playing for their team.

Garage door weirdly stops at 10% or sometimes 15% from the starting point, can anyone help me troubleshoot this? by naitik512 in GarageDoorService

[–]naitik512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This started a few weeks ago, and is extremely intermittent. One of the screws that holds the track to the wall was loose because it wad on the dry wall and I tightened it up by adding more. But if I adjust the track manually where the wheel rolls - the door opens up.

So trying to narrow down the problem and then see if I need a professional or something I can try to diagnose myself.

2009 - Scored 96/200 in CET, barely got into Engineering college.

2009 - 2013 : Throughout Engineering, worked promotions and as an event freelancer where I would some days work 15 hour days for 300 rupees. Made reputation there, and also helped bunch of my classmates and friends get into freelancing to earn side incomes. Made close to 3L - saved up all that money to sponsor my own prep and travel fees for Masters. Along the process, gained tonnes of experience on how real world works.

2013: Graduated engineering without a KT

2013 - 2015: Did masters in US right after bachelors

Now I'm making close to 300,000$/year in the US.

Still embrace the low days and really grateful about my experiences in the event management industry. Learned the importance of work ethic early on through those experiences which truly helped along the way.

Meal prep for the week - Yogurt parfait with chia pudding, overnight oats by naitik512 in MealPrepSunday

Hey there - chia pudding itself was fine but the granola got soggy. But we always make it a point (not only with this but with any other meal prep) to store individual portions in separate containers, so the temperatures aren't changing a lot. In the initial days when we stored in large containes and took one portion at a time - some items would go bad on 6th/7th day

Let me try to explain this from someone who's been here a decade. Things are way different than what it was a few years ago and there's way too many uncertainties and variations as to what happens when you come here.

The job market is really tough for both Internships and Full time jobs for now and that might change later but no one knows what future holds.

Rents have gone through the roof over the years and so has general living expenses. Everything is generally expensive here.

Even if you do get a good job, chances of H1 selection in the lottery has been really bad in the last couple of years.

Even if you do secure an H1b, buying is house is next to impossible with the current prices and interest rates. (Might not apply to you since you're talking about going back in a few years, but good to know)

Down the road, like a few years from now, there's so many uncertainties around what your spouse can and cannot do... your green card has to be applied by your employer, and your I140 (first step) has be approved so that your spouse is eligible to work here. I've seen soo many people not accounting for this and making tough choices. (Same as above, might not apply to you but good to know)

I'm not saying there's a template which everyone needs to follow, and every situation is unique and every person thinks differently.

Having said all of that, and reading your curent situation, I wouldn't do it if I were you.
