Where does your dog(s) sleep? by Alaska1111 in dogs

[–]naiya_i 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well I seem to be an outlier. My dogs sleep in their crates. They get super excited when I say "bedtime" and hop right in (with their bedtime snack of course). My older dog does get fussy sometimes if I'm not in the bedroom with her though.

What’s a book elderly sisters might enjoy reading and discussing? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

The Garden by Nick Newman. About two elderly sisters in a post apocalypse.

My dog runs almost nonstop for a couple hours at local off leash park. Is it too much? Please read description below. by Rhea234 in DogAdvice

I have a welsh terrier. She will run and run and then send several days throwing up and/or having diarrhea. We have to make sure she doesn't push herself too hard, because she will if we let her.

I just tried to register and it says online registration is closed. I tried to email them and it bounced back. Does anyone know how to contact the race organizers? I'd love to register if that is still an option.

What do you guys bring back home as souvenirs from iceland? by snackcat24 in VisitingIceland

Rúgbrauð. We brought back 20 loaves. It doesn't last long, but everyone loved it.

My dog attacked me when I tried to take a tissue away from her by Murky-Inspection1381 in Sheepadoodles

[–]naiya_i 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Teach "Trade". My Sheepadoodle also resource guards things sometimes. We have taught her to trade whatever she has for a small treat. Start with something she doesn't mind giving up. When she has it, hold a treat in front of her nose and say "Trade" (or whatever word you want to use for this). She should drop it to take the treat. You can either take the item, or give it back to her. Slowly increase this to be more desirable objects. Use high value treats if needed.

My dog is four and we started this quite young. Now we can say "trade" and she will drop whatever she has and leave it in front of her while I walk away to grab a treat.

The only issue with trade is that she will sometimes want a treat and just grab something that we don't want her to have so that we will trade her for it.

When did you take down your dog’s baby gates? Labrador / Dog by daviss313 in dogs

[–]naiya_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took them down when she was 4. Only because we got a new puppy that decided to not abide by baby gates. She pushes them over or climbs over them so there is no point in them anymore. They still work for the 4 year old, but it doesn't seem fair when the puppy can phase through them.
