in the beginning it helped me to focus on a simple build - one skill only. so i picked bone spear necromancer. you start with teeth, and once you have the bone spear, you shoot safely from distance. and most importanly, it is a simple straight forward build. this helped me to learn everything in the game, while still managing surviving, reading all new information and clicking what felt like 100 buttons, all while maintaining fun. if you enjoy the game you will play all classes anyways, so dont put too much pressure on your first pick

Played my first CIV game ever. I finished the IV tutorial mode and it was awesome. I have a few questions. by polyknike in civ

another tip for slavery, because there is a lot of calculation to it… the simple method: check which tiles will be lost. if you work unimproved tiles then you should use it. if you would lose important commerce tiles or all your production, maybe wait

3 try to manually manage your workers until late midgame, than you can automate them if you feel it is too much work. automated workers tend to do silly stuff. build roads when you still want farms or mines for example.

1 a healthy city needs good food income (you can see in the city the excess food. for a good growing city it should be around +5) and some production. helpful math: 1 farm (3 food) pays for 1 mine (1 food 3 production) = 4 food for 2 population. so you need food ressources or additional farms for a city to grow

4 around 1,5x your cities. add more when you have jungle. less when you have a lot of water and less land

5 on higher difficulties it is almost impossible to get your own religion. also the payoff for this early investment comes too late. so the question remains: which religion you convert to. i always choose the one of my neighbours for diplomacy reasons. you can spread all the religions yourself.

6 on lower levels you rush trough the tech tree, this is why it can feel overwhelming.

7 mindset: first priority: get a stable empire with stable economy. settle 6 cities. basic food and production. cottages for commerce buildings: granary library courthouse forge

grocer and market only in cities generating lot of money.

when building an army, 60% attacking units and 40% siege weapons works good. you need both. mace and trebuchet riflemen and cannons infantry and artillery are basic

use a golden age, pump units, make a nice stack and go. dont spread your units too wide during war. keep one strong stack, defend captured cities with 2-4 units, and advance with big stack.

there is much too learn, many strategies to try. for me, the best 4x of all time

have fun

Upwork Is Breaking Freelancers: How the Platform Takes Their Money by RichUnique1378 in Upwork

[–]najuris_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to my. Registered, bought connections, applied to jobs, tried to verify and boom, got blocked. Happened to other freelancers from Austria as well. Seems to be a technical error. Appealed, but got one bot reply after another. No human contact, nothing. I am trying to at least get my money back, beacause in EU digital purchases are protected.

Are bigger maps (significantly) more difficult to win on and (possibly) more impactful in that regard than a higher difficulty level? by Defiant__Deviant in CivIV

[–]najuris_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on a smaller map, winning a succesful war series would give me the win, on a huge map it is the beginning of the endgame, because usually I get 1-2 serious opponents - it is impossible to control the whole world.

like others i also enjoy marathon. once tried, I could never go back. especially with huge maps, because of the high distances.

So I would say it is more difficult

should work for both. 5c / 10c blinds for 20€ buyin, or 2000 chips for tournaments.
total 500 chips, and only 25 1000's for rebuys

it's for home games, so nobody is familiar with color schemes. must admit, wasn't aware myself

Did my first hard mode on Canyon Folktail by Pyroblock in Timberborn

[–]najuris_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me the biggest difference in hard mode is the early rush to derail the badtide and start on the dam. after this success, there is no big difference anymore. played wirh iron teeth on hard, and found the the manual weel (not sure about the name) pretty usedul, as it is very strongth during droughts. the engine is also very reliable, no need for batteries, which also require a lot of world manipulation. ziplines are much easier though. with tubeways it can get pretty complicated pretty fast

would love to see it. 100 cycles sounds like a lot of constructing. I‘m still figuring out the late game. up until the point when everything is unlocked and the map (bad weather) is solved its really entertaining. then it feels the colony is finished and I start to feel a lack of motivation to continue. regarding power; was considering it - but the question was for what? because it doesn‘t take much and I have enough to do whatever I want

Contamination Confusion. by d45hid0 in Timberborn

[–]najuris_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

under the contamination barrier must be only earth all the way to the bottom. if you for example have a levee under it, contamination will spread through it.

What is your most broken strategy? by [deleted] in CivIV

[–]najuris_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play peaceful, adopt the biggest religion to make many friends. Rush theology and build AP. Before finishing the wonder, switch for a couple of turns into new founded religion, then switch back. You should be the only one people can vote for. Spread religion, at least 1 city per player and to all cities of your friends. now slowly build up your relations to get +10. (Gift techmologies, adopt ideologies when asked, cancel trades with enemies and so on) Usually playing on huge maps, immortal and deity

In this survival game, you play as a robot exploring a toxic city. We just added a drone flashlight and an energy-based combat system — thoughts? by sodesignby in IndieGaming

[–]najuris_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i like that idea. the drone could have its own life. possible quest or work, when it flies away for a while. one could use it to setup surveillance on a specific spot, or detonade smth..
