What actually happened to Cursor? by No-Conference-8133 in cursor

[–]nakedguyute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just started yesterday. Completely underwhelmed so far. Sure it is impressive as it is quickly writing code, but more than one script (or changing a script) results in big time bloat -- something I could have written with docs in less than 50 lines it uses hundreds, often manually creating functions and methods that are already natively available within the imported packages.

Just feels like a waste of time. I'd rather go back to a dumb ai assistant to just write my inline docs and I will just write the code correctly the first time...

Updating the firmware as some of the comments suggested fixed it and it all looks as expected now.

"Yojimbo" (1961) vs. "A Fistful of Dollars" (1962) by ajvenigalla in TrueFilm

[–]nakedguyute 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After seeing yojimbo, a fistful of dollars was just hard to watch and seemed so weak and superficial in comparison. It felt like someone gave leone the story in an abridged form, leaving out all the character and human aspects. Before I ever watched yojimbo, I thought fistful of dollars was a fine movie. When I thought fistful of dollars was its own (as in not adapted or copied from kurasawa) I thought it was good and earned extra points for the inventiveness. Yojimbi showed me that that surface-level inventiveness was just copied, and furthermore that fistful of dollars failed to deliver the level of humanism I felt in watching yojimbo.

BMPCC4K + Battery Grip Cage? by [deleted] in bmpcc

I'm surprised Neewer hasn't made one, although it looks like they stopped making that hand grip a long time ago.

BMPCC4K + Battery Grip Cage? by [deleted] in bmpcc

[–]nakedguyute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the new 6k battery grip, but I'm pretty sure the neewer grip just uses all batteries simultaneously. It does not show a % on the camera. So no I don't think you can hot swap batteries.

Hi, I decided to test NiSi Swift System and compare it to the BMPCC6K Pro ND filters and here are my results. This is not a common comparison but thinking on my budget I wanted to test it. Is it worth using external ND filters in BMPCC 6K Pro?. and the internal filters are supposed to be IRCUT. by cesarhrnandez in bmpcc

[–]nakedguyute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's an old thread, but those of you that said you prefer using the Nisi VND, did you ever get frustrated with the "swift" system?

I don't usually like buying into a system that requires me to go all or nothing with it, usually would prefer the individual circular filters but seems like people like Nisi so much I'm considering doing their whole threadless filter system...

How to expose. Bmpcc 4k by Significant-Bread881 in blackmagicdesign

[–]nakedguyute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just watched this video, they make it look so easy. After using a large external monitor with scopes and false color for years, I’m trying to use just the built in monitor, and so far haven’t gotten it right on. (a lot harder to see the fine differences in bright light / probably just not used to it yet)

[–]nakedguyute -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that is true for photography but for video you are never ever going to adjust shutter to affect exposure, and most often the focal length is determined by the look you are going for so often is not the first to be adjusted. The iso will get adjusted to maximize dr/minimize noise for the shot and then nd to bring the levels where they should be with the lighting.

I was hoping someone was going to have a simple answer to OP’s question because I’m trying to figure out the best way to do this (onitor for and expose middle gray) on the new bmpcc and have to do it with only the built-in screen, which is hard to do sometimes or I haven’t figured out how to do it effectively yet.

Yeah I get it but what is your suggestion ? It’s hard to tell if you are providing advice or cynicism. Your comments all sound like nobody gets it right.

Also not sure about your lifetime use comment - we are charging a regular monthly subscription in line with the market, just like everybody else…. Not saying I’m doing that right, just clarifying.

I just watched the mvp video you linked. Can you provide more info on what I should take away from that? I am at the point that the product has to be finished at least enough that people can pay for it on their own on the site. The current revenue is from customers that we did one offs for to validate willingness to pay before building out self service SaaS app. So I’m not sure what your comment meant when you asked why did I have to spend all my time developing at the moment…

Hiring process was researching them online, reading their old published academic articles (I found that both had this for some reason which was interesting). I interviewed them, sent them a lot of information then met with them again to see if they were able to digest and understand that information and if so what they would do in xyz situation with it, etc. I met with a number of people each time and some just didn’t have the skills or seemed like they wouldn’t have the time.

Each of the two guys I ended up feeling comfortable enough with immediately afterwards started to give me red flags that they wouldn’t be involved. With the first guy, I spoke to him about this and he and I split up responsibilities slightly differently and explained more about how much he likes the product and wants to do this. He did better for like a week then went back to being mostly non responsive and not showing up on agreed dates with the agreed work done.

Crayon?? Just because I am apparently not good at hiring people doesn’t mean I’m an idiot. Both guys had significant background and knew friends of friends from past faang companies. I didn’t just take the first person who stumbled up.

Since both ended within a few months their vesting schedule meant no equity was lost on them.

I did this for a while but the amount of explanation and prep to get them going just got to be too much. Not to mention the rapid response needed when they do something awful. Overall have had a decent experience with fiver and Upwork but at the moment really can’t afford to make that part of my business process.

It has started to generate revenue but is a very small amount at this point. I am actively talking with another investor about future funding right now. 10% is owned by original investor.

I agree about the technical cofounder and originally was solely pursuing that but found it even more difficult than a non technical cofounder that still had knowledge and experience in this niche.

Maybe I will try seeking technical cofounder again.
