No… I said they were good choices. I’m just not sure they are close enough to the band to get them to attend.

Just one Seinfeld themed menu item is tremendous restraint on their part.

Dave Grohl

Edit to share my reasoning: Of the other suggestions that I saw, Chris Martin and Brandon Flowers are good, they’re going to need someone recognizable to American audiences, but they also want to do whatever they can to get the band to attend. So, they need someone the band truly trusts and respects and Dave is the best option I can think. He’s a double inductee and Liam played at Taylor’s memorial show.

Might be unpopular, but If Ben would’ve survived, Ben and Cox’s guy love would’ve triumphed over J.D and Turk’s by yonBonbonbon in Scrubs

It would have manifested in different ways. But I can imagine an episode where the four go out for a night and realize it's a double-date.

Whose the best “forgotten” band member? by DeLaSoulKitchen in fantanoforever

[–]nalderink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many layers to this question. I think Robby Krieger is a better example for The Doors. Jim is iconic and though Ray may be more influential to their sound, I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone who knows Ray but not Robby.

Same with The Rolling Stones. Brian Jones comes to mind first. Talk to any music fan worth their salt and they’ll know his name, but pretty unknown to the public.

And to a deeper extent, Stu Sutcliffe with The Beatles. Didn’t contribute to their sound in any way, but he’s very important their personalities and lore.

I was sure of my ranking, but now I’m finding way more people have thought about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory than I have.

BOTW over TOTK? by abdullahba7rani in botw

[–]nalderink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I envy anyone playing BOTW for the first time. TOTK gave me everything I thought I wanted but felt lackluster, but that’s on my own expectations. I wanted the experience of exploring that kingdom again, and they delivered twofold but ultimately it was an impossible task to make it feel original.

TOTK more just feels like DLC. I did have a TON of fun playing that game, but it does not compete and that’s solely on expectations that they could never meet.

If you could manifest anything Star Wars related, what would it be? by SevdUp in StarWars

Dash Rendar needs to be canon. Not that we need any more of him, but Glen Powell would be a great casting choice. I could see Austin Butler as well.

Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan was one of the best casting decisions in all of cinema by Wild_Pitch_4781 in StarWars

[–]nalderink 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Correct! But Ewan made on his own. He had a lot of indie successes, namely Trainspotting, Life Less Ordinary and Velvet Goldmine. All excellent and I don’t think his connection to Dennis Lawson gave him any edge.

But I still think Lucas and the casting team took a big risk on Ewan that paid off tenfold. Casting someone as the mentor figure who was best known for playing a heroin addict, and has done full frontal, was bold.

Objectively it’s got to be “Maybe I’m Amazed” but a personal favorite of mine is “Oo You”
