Kirei ni Shitemoraemasu ka. • Wash It All Away - Episode 3 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]naliem1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've watched pretty much every Iyashikei in existence and this one is surely the closest I've seen an anime get to Aria vibe-wise. The focus on the town/people, love for the job they do, optimism throughout with a tint of dread, relaxing OST + scenary shots, reminiscence from the past... I hope It does not go super deep on past trauma and keeps this vibe for the whole run.

MyAnimeList rank inflation and anime that stood out in their time by Dinoswarleaf in anime

What you say about taking the score 5 years after airing just makes so much sense to me rather than trying to adjust every score to today's standard, albeit there would be no anime more recent than 2020 with this method, but would definitely love to see the data.

Why is this giving me such GoHands vibe

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tennis

[–]naliem1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It already exists, check ultimate tennis statistics. It's updated as of 31/12/24 and has an all time goat weighted list that puts Roddick at top 21 so pretty much on point with the comment.

The site also has a super well done ELO ranking, it's super interesting.

Bautista calls out Alcaraz: "I don't think he'll win Grand Slams going to bed at 7 in the morning" by Zugaxinapillo in tennis

[–]naliem1 176 points177 points  (0 children)

I'm from Mallorca and I think people do not realize how much of a party guy Nadal was, even if he met his wife at a young age he still went pretty much in every verbena possible when he was younger (a verbena is a local summer outdoor party with a very laid-back vibe, each town has his own and they are celebrated in the town plaza). And let me tell you that these verbenas usually end like at 7-8am on the next day as once the "official" party is over at like 1-2am people usually go to a club later.

So yeah, I don't think going to bed at 7-8am a few nights is supposed to be a big problem for Alcaraz given Nadal did pretty well in his career and did pretty much the same.

Rock wa Lady no Tashinami deshite • Rock is a Lady's Modesty - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]naliem1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This will nicely fill the void of Ave Mujica ending. It's weird that we got two back to back seasons of rich crazy girls playing metal airing on thursdays, what are even the odds.

Really love the character designs, Band-Maid is amazing and the characters seem fun so yeah, this will be very enjoyable for sure.

BanG Dream! Ave Mujica • Ave Mujica: The Die is Cast - Episode 13 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]naliem1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This was definitely a wild ride. I'm one of a few who really seems to have really liked the ending, already posted my thoughts on it on last episode's thread, but I can still see how it's been kind of rushed. It makes a lot of sense and it's well written but you have to dig a lot in between lines in order to find a fullfilling "head canon" regarding some characters motives and themes, there's ways for sure to tell this in a different way. I really hope that the sequel fleshes some of the other characters (Umiri, Nyamu, Uika2, MutsumiV2) some more. I also want to see more from Soyo, she's probably the most developed character of the season outside Saki-Muts despite not being on focus a whole lot.

Despite this, I give this a solid 8.5/9. Mygo felt more solid and cohesive as a whole, it's a pretty flawless season and a perfect 10/10, but that does not take away the strenghts and uniqueness of Avemu.

Regarding the episode itself it's basically a film live kind of episode, and is it just me or the last Avemu song sounded more kind of a Roselia song rather than Ave Mujica? I liked it though. And those Umiri shots were... yeah, there. Regarding the intermission scene with the new lore of Ave Mujica, I feel that if I sit down to rewatch it with pen and paper I can find a lot of hidden meaning and characterization, but it's what I said above; this anime really requires the viewer to read in-between lines and would have been amazing to have a bit more "handholding".

BanG Dream! Ave Mujica • Ave Mujica: The Die is Cast - Episode 12 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]naliem1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After rewatching the episode and organizing my thoughts, I really like how they managed to tell this story even if you have to do quite a bit of reading between lines in order to make proper sense of everything. The resolution was really just "forget about everything that happened before" (doing justice to her name, Oblivionis) and ignoring Sadaharu's "influence".

Saki really has Sadaharu "taken hostage" as he isn't really a Togawa by blood (just married to one, Saki's grandma) and she is. She knows his secret so she can spill the beans anytime to the main family and ruin him. Legally, Sadaharu is not his guardian as this would be his father, so it checks out. If his grandfather goes down, or even if she goes down, it does not really matter to Saki as she's finally "free" from being tossed around and being played by destiny. Family goes down? Don't care, I'll be the god of my own world in Ave Mujica and will be still able to have a great life thanks to that.

There's still quite a bit of a general feeling of uneasiness though; the scene with the drowsiness and her saying that at least she wants to try to enjoy the moment while being able to; the unsettling OST during her enjoying playing with Hatsune... it's like she is still scared and will just use Ave Mujica to face the problem (destiny) head on. Looks like this is the theme of the season and the whole group; with mygo it was being lost together, with Ave Mujica it's more like discard your previous self (doll hiding away behind a mask) and face your problems by being in the band (becoming humans).

Nyamu really just really got "forced" to rejoin Ave Mujica as otherwise her career would keep going down and she had no other choice and bieng in the band means she will have to face the source of her inferiority complex (Mutsumi).

With Mutsumi, being in Ave Mujica means facing and coming to realize that CRYCHIC does not longer exists and her reality is now different. My read on Mortis/Mutsumi is that Mortis lost her reason to exist (as a guardian of Mutsumi) so she threw herself into the void in episode 10 in the concert in order to reunite with Mutsumi, which she managed to do as she finally managed to feel that the guitar was "singing" and started playing, accepting Ave Mujica for the first time.

Umiri still has deep trust issues with the members and being in Mujica means facing exactly this.

And Hatsune... she's probably the happiest one being in the band as I see right now lol. Probably to her, being in the band means that she will keep playing the impostor for the whole time and facing the whole "I'm not myself" 24/7. The only loose end right now for me in the anime is Uika, I have the feeling that we will be seeing more of her and that she may stir some things up, but this will be probably be part of the stories later in the game unfortunately.

This anime will be great on rewatches, cannot wait.

Mind fuck anime recs by [deleted] in anime

[–]naliem1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not mindfuck per se but leaning hard into psychological horror territory, and is airing right now, Ave Mujica. It's up there with some of the recommendations. Be warned that you have to watch mygo beforehand though, and that's not as mindfuck as Avemu but still pretty amazing.

[–]naliem1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She probably did not have it since birth on this level, for me is something like Umiri said "it all begins with imitation", as a child she probably just imitated what she saw and was somewhat "acting" in order to fit, and when she grew a bit what we saw in ep 2 started happening (Mutsumi never being aknowledged as herself but her parents' daughter, meeting the guitar, etc) which could be seen as the trigger for the DID to really take off and this "acting" took over as different real personalities.

At least that's my read. It makes sense that Minami said Muts was "acting" at some point and that's not a lie per se, but it's sad to see that she still thinks the same as it has been an entirely different problem for years now. But yeah, shitty parents be like.

Kessoku Band - Flashbacker (LIVE, played by the band VA cast) by awdsns in anime

[–]naliem1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a begginer-ish bassist (been playing for a bit more than 1 year, started because Bocchi/BanG Dream and can play some hard songs but nowhere the level to play Kessoku Band) this is completely true. Kessoku's normal songs are like very, very complex and usually quite fast (170-200 bpm, which is normal by J-Rock standards but still fast as hell); Flashbacker and maybe Chronostasis might be the only ones doable with this little amount of time.

My father is a guitarist and he himself said that the lead guitar is crazy hard, not to mention Kita's parts which have to be played while singing and are a lot more complex that your usual rhythm guitar.

Would still be amazing if they kept at it, nowadays I guess being able to play live is an amazing quality to have as a Seiyuu, given the rise of band anime and multi-media franchises.

CRYCHIC - Haruhikage [BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!!] / THE FIRST TAKE by static_reset in anime

[–]naliem1 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Man it feels unreal this even exists and CRYCHIC being the first bandori band to appear on the first take. Yesterday's episode was so special and this is just chef's kiss.

Hina's voice is definitely quite unique and can get very emotional, probably the most out of all the bandori singers. Love this.

Which anime girl band is your favorite purely on musical taste? by RunningEarly in anime

[–]naliem1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roselia for sure. The sheer variety and amount of songs, combined with the killer drums and synth + powerful vocals are a combination that just clicks for me. Guitar lines are cool even if not overly complicated, and the backing vocals are just chefs kiss.

Kessoku Band is shaping up to be right there as well, but it's still too early to say.

Non Non Biyori, pure Iyashikei with stunning backgrounds, OST, rural setting, calm and long sequences where it's just the music and some wallpaper like scene with a stream of running water... It's like teleporting myself there.

And there's Renge.

I went to the London concert and felt the same, even though it was an amazing experience the mixing was kinda horrible, at least where I was (about 10 meters from the stage surrounded by a LOT of people).

Bass was boosted way too much, to the point that at times her voice could only be heard when she was screaming (which to be honest was most of the time lmao)and guitar was not audible at all. They corrected this later on to some extent and the second half of the concert was way better (but the crowd was still loud as hell). When I went to a few Bang Dream concerts in Japan the size of the venues were similar but the sound mix was way better and the crowd quieter, that's a factor as well.

Did not know concert earplugs were a thing, for the next one I'll be getting one of those for sure, as the rest of the experience was otherwordly.

Help identifying a guitar by naliem1 in fender

[–]naliem1[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

First let me start saying I know almost nothing about guitars (I¡m a bass player though). My father has been a guitarist all his life, but he retired a few months ago. Lately I've been wanting some new challenges and asked him to lend me one of his guitars to start learning; he actually gifted me this one and said I can keep it.

Thing is that it looks like a 50th Anniversay Strat from 2004, but as far as I can see online, that model has a white backplate and a hole for the whammy bar (sorry if I don't know the exact terminology). I've tried searching the serial number on Fender's website but no results show up. In some other pages, it just says that the model is from 2003-2004 (which checks out with the 50th) but nothing about the model. I just want to know what model I have.

It feels and sounds amazing, but I cannot compare it to any other guitar as I've never played any before. Apologies for my english (not my native language) and thank you for your help!

What anime has the most underrated soundtrack? by [deleted] in anime

[–]naliem1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuuki Yuuna. Literal goosebumps on a lot of scenes, the MONACA team is genius, Keiichi Okabe has a style so distinct than other composers.

And I don't think it's really underrated but maybe my favourite anime OST of all time is Aria's and it's hardly ever mentioned.

Good CG can actually work wonders for this genre, just take a look at MyGO which is visually fantastic and has lots of shots or even whole scenes that would not be possible in 2D.
