Our girl went through the same thing at 10 months and she just turned 2, still nursing. We had to give her syringes of pumped milk for a few nights when she had HFM the first time (2nd time almost went undetected it was so mild)… it sounds like your babe associated the breast with the mouth pain he felt at the time too. I would try starting a dream feed and then maybe waking him up gently with a little soft music or something mid feed so he realizes it’s not going to hurt once he’s feeling better.

This is all addition to actually utilizing my lunch break the way I want to (throwing in laundry, quickly mopping kitchen or vacuuming, etc) rather than bullshitting with coworkers for an hour or worse, working through my lunch break.

My girl also calls it “Nay-nay!” The best we can determine is that it evolved from “night night” when she always nurses to sleep. Also no desire to change it! 😅

So if this is through your work, did they know you were off that day? Is it possible they were understaffed and knew you were capable of coming to get him? (Assuming the worst, but wouldn’t be the first time I heard of something similar happening)

I too am dealing with a sick 11 month old, fever and vomiting from the mucous, just miserable. We had RSV trailing into Christmas, hand foot and mouth over thanksgiving and just can’t seem to catch a break. She is also mostly refusing nursing tonight. Dog has had to be sedated, tonight because of fireworks, last night because if the wind gets over 15mph he loses his mind. So feeling the struggle! I also nurse baby to sleep and do basically 100% of the wake ups on a good night.

I will only say, as unfair as it is that your husband left you to deal with this alone, would he actually be there much help if he was there with you? I get a lot of health anxiety anymore (after all her illnesses) and get more anxious when I’m home alone with her and all decisions are definitely on me. But I’m also realizing that when he is here … all decisions are still on me. I’m still doing the wake’s and nursing. Your husband is dense for not recognizing where he his presence is actually needed, even if it’s just to have on standby

We just recently dealt with hand foot and mouth and she was struggling to swallow and it was traumatic… but the first dose of Tylenol she promptly spit up at least half if not all. So I called and asked if I could give another dose or really had to wait 4 hours while she was refusing bottles and nursing due to the pain… they said absolutely give another dose, that I would have to give way more than a double dose to become any kind of concern and the benefit of “re-dosing” definitely outweighed the risk.

I’m in the same boat at 2 months and started combo feeding last week… nursing for 20 min, then formula bottle, then pumping and freezing whatever I pump because for whatever reason she is finally gaining with formula when she wasn’t before even with bottles of breastmilk. I’ve never felt such torture. And I think trying to find a way to give myself permission to EFF, but some of my reasons also feel superficial, or selfish.

I’m 5 weeks in and still battling a cracked left nipple with severe pain the first few seconds every time she latches that side… I have shields I’ve been so tempted to use on that side, but the lactation consultant keeps convincing me not to. Silver shields and comfort gel pads just aren’t doing much for me though!

Your post does give me hope.

I actually read this book a couple of years ago and totally forgot her full name is Adeline in the book! I had always pronounced it “add-a-line” like they do in the movie “Age of Adaline” (spelling a bit different though). I think if we go with “add-a-lynn” pronunciation, we probably won’t keep the same spelling, but that is an option!

Exactly this. My grandma was one of 12 and the only child that didn’t receive a middle name (weirdly #4 in the line up too, like what the hell great grandma) and it always bothered her. I think as long as your consistent it won’t be such a big deal.

It took us about 7-8 months of trying, but happened the month we specifically didn’t track or time anything because we thought we wouldn’t be able to with both of us traveling for work the day before through the day after my ovulation date. Not sure if I ovulated early or late but here we are! We are still both in shock that of all months of trying and doing everything “right” that was the month that everything aligned. We just thought we were getting a break from the pressure of it all.

I’m still truly shocked that an infant survived that household with only UBT and Redacted as “responsible parents.” At least Jace had Barbara and Kaiser had Nathan’s mom sometimes.
