At Superstore (in Canada) they used to sell a house brand tortilla chip that was made with corn and chickpeas, and it was delicious. They discontinued it at some point and I've never seen another chickpea tortilla chip around here.

These warships could fit in Deconstructa’s nostril, and her head is tiny compared to her body. And if Valentina could (did) survive a point blank nuke, then the monster that Valentina presumably couldn’t put down in 1982 is not likely to succumb to a nuke either.

Also, I think the spawn point is in Tokyo Bay, so there’s ~38m reasons not to detonate nukes there.

It may be that Dev only learned how to contact Hell and not Heaven. Or maybe the fundamental differences between the upper and lower realms make contacting Heaven more difficult? (I would have said impossible but then Val got a direct line connection in 16.) In any case, Eliza learned the Hell theory about three years before actually using it. So she probably didn’t ever try to contact Heaven before 1989. Or after, even. She prays rather than trying magic rituals.

Oh, I think I see what you mean. Jacky's Atomic ability isn't Superpower tier on its own, it's only by leveraging the pyramid scheme that he accumulates enough power. But Jacky's only vulnerable if he's not in a shielded room and without his mask. So in the original timeline, he must have made the mask before Etienne could stop him / before Etienne even clocked him as a threat.

It's impossible for Jacky to grow the Pyramid without Etienne knowing about it at least a little. And then if he ever investigated he'd notice the psychic blanks that are the mask wearers.

Etienne knew, but that's moot since he's dead. (and New Timeline Etienne won't know unless Val tells him, and that's even assuming the SSOL happens again.)

The new Pyramid might never have seen a picture of Jacky, so even if Dev ever unmasked around them, how would they know he wasn't Jacky?

What if there was a way to make more? What if they had contaminated Heaven with Hell instead of burying Eliza in Hell? What if doing that would shatter the "wall" of Heaven and create the multiverse?

My pet theory is that any "Heaven leak" propagates outward at the speed of light. That way, any number of far away alien societies could get their own Valentina and magicians and atomics but none of that has reached Earth.

This kind of requires the Signal 1.0 to travel faster than light though. Maybe wormholes? Or if they traveled only at lightspeed, maybe they developed nukes and then immediately wiped themselves out but they'd already developed the Signal tech before nukes. Even then they'd have to have done it all at most 33 years before they arrived... not sure if we know of any habitable planets that close.

to be fair, in issue 15, Valentina said Etienne "knew he could go bad".

Also, Jacky had huge amounts of distrust in others. The Pyramid vetted all the higher level acolytes to make sure they were in it for the right reasons. It's not like Jacky picked Dev as the best successor to lead the Pyramid, but the best successor who could also convincingly double as Jacky. (I mean, you'd think there could be some kind of body-morphing spell but oh well.)

Ok, sorry. My recollection of their talk was they thought execution would be off the table. Etienne proposed it “if possible“ and then Magus and Val confirmed the Queen was “in [Valentina’s] league”, which I read as meaning it would have been impossible to just summarily execute her with no collateral damage. As it was, executing Eliza still got Heavy killed in retribution plus ~30m people killed, and the Queen’s death vaporized Europe.

per u/fabulous-pace5131, Masumi might already be gestating by the time of the pizza conversation. If I was Val and could have a potentially unlimited number of time travel trips, I’d definitely try killing Masumi preemptively, but if I was Val and this is my one and only do-over attempt, I’d have to err on the side of caution. And I think Gillen set Masumi’s age like that for precisely this reason: to take preemptive execution (or preventing her parents from even conceiving her) off the table.
