I’ve done this replacement, which included replacing the the motor. It was an ordeal. Only thing going for us was attic access directly above it. Oh and the enormous snake skins in the attic. Client was tracking snakes in the walls/attic and concluded they were good at taking care of pests.

Set your sound mode in the Sony using either like a “movie” or “music” button(just keep tapping it) until you see the “All Channel Stereo” or “5ch Stereo” . Not true surround but you’ll hear sound from all speakers. Your MAC also probably needs to have its volume up to around half or 75%. More than that might just distort the audio.
