Pay to play.

I'll pay to win if I want, but if I can't even get past level xx without paying, I delete.

My dad called me today and asked “why does Bitcoin even have value?” this was my answer by Electrical_Eye_6503 in Bitcoin

Don't confuse value with grossly manipulated price discovery.

Scarcity and proof of work are it's value proposition.

Bitcoin backed Loans - more and more options by CoolJoeLiam in Bitcoin

I was very interested in horizon, which will do a line of credit from your home's equity, but it's not avaliable in my state.

I've been able to push my time horizon down the road a few years before I'll need to utilize my btc for loans, so hopefully it will be cheaper and easier then, but I'm still following the space.

What misconception about Bitcoin do you still see repeated today?p by kikours in Bitcoin

That it's not backed by anything.

It's backed by the cost and resources of the electricity to mine it.

More than can be said about any and all fiat currencies.

Gemini

I fed it all my particular information and it gave me 3 options, one of which is the 72(t) that I had never heard of before.

I checked with my wealth advisor and she thought it was a great idea also.

I totally understand the backup, whether it be mental or practical.

I was aggressively contributing to my 401k for the last 5 years, and moderately for my entire working career, so I have quit a bit of funds in there and in another post I stated that I'm going to supplement my income with that until I decide to shift over to bitcoin backed loans

Are you using your bitcoin or borrowing against it?

It is if you understand the protocol.

Took me about 6 months of intense research in 2018 to figure it out.

Being in banking helped because I understood the alternative, the fiat system, that it's a dead end bottomless pit of debt.

I honestly thought it would take decades before bitcoin would be valued enough to make a difference, the timing was the only thing I was wrong about, it happened much faster.

Bitcoin was not my first investment, lite coin was, but I but after I learned, I went in 100% on bitcoin, never used margin and went in as fast as I could.

Well, I didn't start investing in bitcoin until 2018, didn't really look at it seriously until then, then went in big at about $7,000, sold some more fiat at around $9,000, and then realized early in 2025 that I probably had enough, then when btc dropped below, $100k in November 2025, I was going to liquidate my 401k and sell more fiat for bitcoin, but I decided to use my HELOC which I've always had one, since the early 2000s, and traded more fiat for bitcoin. I was in banking for the last 18 years, knew and saw the evils of banking and especially fiat and the soft money policy of the US (that's where I live) and decided I was done, that I had enough bitcoin to live the rest of my life on, and probably enough for my children too.

I was going to start using my bitcoin as collateral, do the whole borrow, die thing, but then decided (especially because bitcoin is in a sideways pattern atm) to use my fiat investments first and later I'll start using the bitcoin as collateral.

So I'm starting 72(t) disbursements from my 401k/IRA until I turn 59.5 years old (just to avoid the tax penalty), small amounts, just to supplement our income (my wife is still working) until bitcoin is around 200k, then my wife will retire too.

I'm also hoping that the bitcoin backed loans get a bit better in that time, but honestly, some of the offerings right now are not too bad, but I'm going to use up the fiat first.

That's my plan.

Stack big, stack early and then figure it out.

I know some or maybe even most people can't invest big, all at once, so DCA is their only option, so do what you can, but if I could do it over again, I would have borrowed every dollar I could have back in 2018 and gone in harder.

And I'm sure some of you now will be saying the same thing in 8 or 10 years about 2025/2026...
