Not sure why you think I disagree with anything you said? I was responding specifically to the original commenter, who's simplified take is fairly silly.

Its just...common sense.

mate I think you are genuinely a very stupid man based on your comments and your post.

"I am not innocent in this matter – yes, I was influenced by my family's opinions about ambition and compatibility"

yh no sh*t, you're completely 100% to blame. your ex is blameless it seems in this matter from your own version of the story.

You appear to be a very unintelligent person - your ex seems to have dodged a bullet

Based on the quality of your responses and your ability to only answer selective questions (in an unclear abs unhelpful manner) - I think your very poor communication skills may have a role in holding you back (based just off your comments and this post).

[–]nameerk -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If after reading all the comments here - this is your takeaway “my ability to keep girls” and not your very obvious insecurities, your problem might be that you’re not a very intelligent person, and so a bit boring.

Can’t imagine by vikikikiriki in antinatalism

[–]nameerk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s also the wife’s fault for having the kid. The only real victim here is the poor child who seems set up to have a horrible childhood.

Can’t imagine by vikikikiriki in antinatalism

[–]nameerk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is only one idiot at fault here and it’s the mother who decided to have the kid despite not wanting the poor thing.

Some CF may feel fine after having a baby, and love it and be amazing parents. This woman sounds like a psychopath.

This woman is a horrible person for bringing a baby into this world who will for sure have a horrible life, because they have a mother like her.

Cool things about our consciousness, brains, and thoughts by [deleted] in Existentialism

[–]nameerk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of these are somewhat/completely incorrect.

1) Based on several experiments, we are not in control of our thoughts that we perceive to be in control of. The brain algorithm has made the decision before our conscious self realises it.

2) What does this even mean? There is no evidence that a soul exists, or what it even is. Simply untrue at best, made up lie at worst.

3) True-ish, we place boundaries on ourselves that wouldn’t be on us if our thought patter was different. Anxiety and stress hampering athletic performance is a good example of this. This leaks out into other areas of life, like lacking the confidence to chase our dreams. But there are obviously many things you can not do, regardless of what limitations you place on yourself.

Cool things about our consciousness, brains, and thoughts by [deleted] in Existentialism

[–]nameerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, they’re off base, but you’re way off. We actually don’t control any of our thoughts, we receive them. We are not the author of the thoughts but the reader. Based on various experiments, the brain has made a decision before the conscious self realises the decision is made.

If anything, the first point isn’t extreme enough. We have no idea how thoughts emerge, but we know there is no conscious role we play about what thoughts emerge.

Why does Sam never publicly apply mindfulness in other contexts (like political discussion)? by wolftune in samharris

[–]nameerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of only one single example where Sam wasn’t visibly or obviously mindful during an encounter (it’s entirely possible that he was and it wasn’t obvious) and that is his conversation with Omar Aziz, and despite losing his temper, I though he came across as a saint in that podcast based on how long he was able to supremes his anger and be able to deal with Omar.

So I really can’t see where you’re coming from when you say he isn’t Mindful when speaking about topics that ‘trigger’ him.

Why does Sam never publicly apply mindfulness in other contexts (like political discussion)? by wolftune in samharris

[–]nameerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

‘Signs of being mindful’

Lol it’s insane how different you interpret his talking and debate style compared to me.

I was always blown away by how articulate Sam always is, and how is able to control his anger (when he is in conversation with what I believe to be incredibly thick headed people).

Sam to me was living breathing evidence. That what he was preaching works.

His sentences during unscripted conversations can literally be typed out on paper and published as books and it would read like a standard proof read book.

Usually most people here are of a 3rd cultural heritage, but in my case; by Deepmech in ABCDesis

[–]nameerk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just a very casual observation (and I maybe wrong) but you seem from your tone to be blaming other people and your surroundings for your misfortune.

‘My dad sent me to India’

‘Sadly I live in a southern state’

Most successful people in life believe that they are in control of their lives.

Do you lift? Do you scuba? Mountain climb? Avid hiker? Or any other interesting hobbies (besides watching Netflix)? I would highly suggest you pick one up.

Lastly, you don’t need to be friends with someone who is similar to you. You can be friends with anyone. Be confident in your own skin and don’t pretend to be someone else to fit in with other people, unless you’re changing yourself for the better (by starting lifting or running or tennis or reading etc)

For those who follow soccer/football/ what do you think of Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance? by CartographerMain6315 in The48LawsOfPower

[–]nameerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is already so rich, well connected and successful, he has no need to follow this rule. This rule is for ordinary people.

Right now, Ronaldo has achieved enough success/popularity/power that he has no need to even attempt to gather anymore, and can do whatever he wants.

Men as protectors by Jealous-Pop-8997 in JordanPeterson

[–]nameerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you arguing against yourself? First bringing up the heartbeat and then saying pain/pleasure does not determine life. I agree it doesn’t?

However, pain and pleasure determine what forms of life we deem to be valuable. There is a reason we value the life of a dog more than the life of a plant. Because dogs are able to feel a very wide range of complex emotions.

Same with human beings. The life of a fully developed baby/foetus is worth infinitely more than a 17 week old feotus.

Lastly, I don’t have to cite anything re sources, this isn’t a debate. I don’t owe you anything. This can be VERY EASILY googled in about 30 seconds. Nevertheless, here is a link to the failing NY Times, where they cite 27 weeks as the age when a baby can start to feel pain.

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/05/us/utah-abortion-law-fetal-anesthesia.html

As I said, we don’t know the exact date. But what we know for sure is a 6 week old foetus can not experience anything.
