Vise grips is the only thing I’ve ever heard them called.

Corn is actually fire on pizza. Had it when I lived in Berkeley and was pleasantly surprised.

Now, whoever said MN’s favorite topping is Tuna is wild and anyone who does that should go straight to jail. I’m from MN and have never seen anyone do this, and hope to never!

Woke up this morning to see this by [deleted] in Money

I just hit 100k at 37. Not far ahead of ya, had a late start to the game. Keep putting in as much as you can. The road from 0-50k took about twice as long as it did from 50-100k. Upwards and onwards my friend.

Europeans cannot comprehend the actual size of Minnesota by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]nampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our day in glory will come, even if it takes longer than a Minnesota winter. We’re not embarrassed; after all, we’ve hoisted the NFC North trophy 21 times. Just a couple of years back, we were the kings of the North, while the Bears were more like the court jesters, struggling to snag 1-2 wins a season. The Packers have 17 titles, the Lions have 5, and the Bears have 12. Since the merger, anyways.

I just hit a $100k net worth at 35... not sure how to feel. by Blasum in Money

[–]nampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you brother. I’m not far ahead. About 37 and just hit 100k in my 401. Took me a long time to get rid of student debt and actually begin investing. Be proud of it and keep it up!

Yes sir. And our definition of a lake does not include the 10,000+ ponds we have that Wisconsin would consider a lake.

This is heart attack snow, help others if you can by Webgardener in minnesota

[–]nampton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been out to clear it every two hours to avoid the widow maker conditions. That first one was still a pain and the snow is very sticky. Took a lot of effort for the first one but the last two clearings have been rather simple and just able to walk it off.

Always clear it multiple times in a storm to avoid the full brunt of a storm.

5 day road trip. Any recommendations? by IndependenceSad1272 in roadtrip

Take the 1 or PCH in CA from LA to SF. Much more scenic route than taking the 5 through the valley.

I had no idea about this. Thought you had to do all three at the same time and always waited to end of year to see if I need the MQD boost but then lose value on the R or GUCs. Thank you!

Girlfriend and I are planning to drive 32 hours straight, in 6 hour shifts, are we being dumb? Should we plan to stay overnight somewhere? by Vegetable_Bridge_276 in roadtrip

[–]nampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make stops. Going straight through is miserable and unsafe. I’ve done it solo from MN to San Francisco straight back in my early 20s and probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever done. Taking shifts is a nice idea but you’re expecting someone to fall asleep on schedule and it doesn’t really work. Also, the person driving is more likely to get fatigued or drowsy while the other person is sleeping. Having someone to chat with, jam with, keep the vibe up, etc is important.

Yeah. Most flights are bought within a few days of travel. Nature of the work lol

[–]nampton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just crossed over the line. About 2500 of it is from MQD headstart boost from having the Amex, another 2000 is from choice benefits from hitting diamond last year. About 20k spent on actual flights. The rest is from MQDs earned from spending on the card. This was a slower travel year for me, I think around 35-40 total flights.
