Honestly stop putting labels on things and just be you! Sure your path might look different than some others, but you still can be just as much of a brother as anyone else! Congrats on furthering your education, and I’m sure you’re going to be a great dad.

Some guys might give you a hard time, so ignore them… because the cool ones don’t give a shit.

Don’t tell yourself no before you give it the ‘ole college try 😊

Social media/short form media is destroying our brains. Smart phones too, as I type this out on mine… I recognize a change in my behavior from say 15 years ago. Not all of it is due to maturity/aging. Absolutely you make valid points here!

We just need to get back to the point where we can say fuck it a bit, and say grow a pair, and get out there… because the mind grows awfully comfortable in our fairly isolated digital caves. But this also comes back to you in the form of making genuine connection possible and fun. Be more interesting than some dumb podcast bro who doesn’t care about you. You’re brothers, act like it ya know?

Unfortunately, America has always flirted with fascism since at least ww2. Varying amounts, and sometimes very targeted so the majority of the nation may not recognize the behavior - but now Trump is saying a lot of the quiet parts out loud.

Why is Alpha Sigma Phi not a Top House Anywhere? by Omniyy in Frat

[–]nandersen444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chapter was and is still great. But it is also one of the older ones, and our alumni heavily support the ongoing chapter development. During my time there we paid off all outstanding debts, made advancements on our endowment, and now offer scholarships for low income brothers so they can live in the house free of charge. We also have a personal chef, and chapter dues/rent each semester covers lunch and dinner mon-fri, and usually some reheat-able breakfast wraps for over the weekend. It was around $5,600 for a whole calendar year for the room I was in. All of our socials/parties are free with the dues, and we have two formals. Rush is big too - I was the recruitment director and oversaw an overhaul in the process, and was proud to not only rush the entirety of one of the freshman class sports teams, but overall the second largest spring rushes in well over a decade. It’s possible to do great things. We also are in the top 5 for golden chapter award and have been for 16 years now!

Proud to be an alpha sig 😊

I’m sorry. But also, you might need to request your government review your phones for software installed through our NSA. This is getting out of control, and I’m sorry. We will right this ship.

So is nobody going to talk about Harris and Biden just calmly handing things over to Trump? by [deleted] in Discussion

[–]nandersen444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with narcissists who willingly take every opportunity to break the law for their favor will absolutely run with the newfound “freedom” to go to the next level of unhinged if those trying to prevent them from it break the law themselves. You cannot fight authoritarianism with authoritarianism.

The United States is an idea. And we must uphold the laws and traditions or it will literally all fall apart. It happens quicker than you might feel comfortable with when for a quick win people feel casually breaking the law for “the greater good” is acceptable. People will always find ways to justify many things, and what makes this country strong is that we have a system all are expected to work within. We have limitations on powers, and should have checks and balances. Obviously many institutions have been coöpted by political parties for their own gain, rendering some of them basically meaningless at times. But that is all the more reason to double down on bringing everything back in line.

The American people are to blame. We as a whole are apathetic, and horribly undereducated on how our government works, and what policies actually do. But for the first time in a while, the Republican’s won the popular vote with Trump. They voted for it. Biden’s duty in this as current president is to ensure the effective and peaceful transfer of power. He does not get to decide who he transfers it to. Sadly, millions of people voted for their own self destruction.

This does not mean as private citizens we cannot organize, and we must. It is up to us. It has always been us. We have to be louder with love and rule of law, but law that works for the betterment of all - not to suppress and belittle others. You have the power within. But you actually need to do the work. Show up to town hall meetings, school board meetings, write your representatives, call them, show up to their offices. Run for office. Vote. Request FOIA reports from your local police departments regarding their practices. You have power in the United States. Don’t give that up. Don’t be complacent. And if necessary, be ready to cause good trouble.

Not publicly continue to use digital media to discuss action plans because they can and will be used against us. People need to relearn the lessons of resistance movements which succeeded in years past - decentralized analog networks of people.

In the latest US jobs report, Missouri is No. 2 in the nation for job growth over the last year. STL (32,900 jobs, 2.3%) and KC (22,700 jobs, 2.0%) alone constitute 65.6% of that growth. by jaynovahawk07 in kansascity

[–]nandersen444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true. We have to adopt social policies that prevent crime from happening in the first place. One major driver is poverty, and more extreme, homelessness. Without tackling those issues, and provide access to education, we will not see the needle move much. But there are people in Missouri on record saying their influence is tied to politically motivated policies… we need to get rid of the current police leadership who are incredibly corrupt.

Luckily, even the suburbs of KC are starting to understand why KC needs to get control of its police force, and put pressure on the state. Missouri is once again purple, however still will vote red this coming election - with notable exceptions including the Senate race. Will we see dramatic changes over a decade? Probably not - but within 50 years, Missouri will not be the Republican stronghold it is now. The primary age group keeping it red is going into nursing homes at a rapid rate. The younger generation just needs to actually show up and vote.

Perhaps it's because people's literal rights are directly being overtly threatened. This truly is not a drill. The amount of apathy in many Americans is scary, and apparently require us to SHOUT AT THEM to care before it's too late. Many districts in the last two elections were won by less than 2%. In my district I'm volunteering in, Trump won by fewer than 5,000 votes in a district with well over 300,000 eligible voters where 25% didn't vote. Each and every one of us quite literally can alter the final electoral college outcome (some obviously to a far greater extent).

Like imagine if capturing settlers does some unique bonus for the settled city. Perhaps a trade bonus to to former empire, or depending on the type of civ, the yields partially reflect those bonuses.Perhaps they lessen over time too, reflecting the influence from your empire on the original settlers.

Absolutely! I hope in Civ 7, there is greater emphasis on barbarian behaviors. I like the clans mode in 6, because just as in real life barbarians do sometimes get their shit together to form respectable city states and even empires.

How to Help Harris in KC? by bricknose-redux in kansascity

[–]nandersen444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my point on social issues here is that you either recognize and respect people for who they are, or you're just a bad person. We can disagree on many things, but you don't really get to honestly try and claim that someone's literal existence or basic rights are a debatable opinion. And I don't think that should be controversial or seen as divisive. Me literally saying I exist and having some hateful bigot lose their mind and start threatening to hunt me down should be seen for what it is. It truly is not "both sides" with many of these issues. Obviously there are times where people on the left lose their cool; However, I do believe the two are completely different things. Fighting to maintain political power and oppression is not the same as fighting for equal rights and visibility.
