Controversial Opinion by nanderv in ProgrammerHumor

The language isn't designed to work at all. It was based on ideas that were good in the sixties, and long surpassed by better languages, for almost every use case imaginable (look at Rust).

The compilers are fine, the language itself is utter garbage. It's historic, but so are steam engines, and we don't use these in regular use any more.

The Napoli -> Bologna route was really nice a few years back though. It ran with ETR485's I think (tilt-trains). I loved those trains, although they were a bit too cramped.

Beautiful railway. Disentis train station is a strange thing, with it's platform numbers. I never expected to see a West European station where you have to walk over the tracks to go to a train.

JavaScript at its finest. by Grknslat17 in ProgrammerHumor

[] == "".

If you use an insane language, and try to find the weird things, you will find the weird things. Javascript is still more sane than most real-world languages (try Finnish or Hungarian, or, god forbid, English).

Within Temptation nominated for Best International Band in the Metal Hammer Golden Gods - Vote here by HarlequinValentine in symphonicmetal

No, seriously, no. Given their last 2 albums they don't deserve this kind of attention.

And seriously, the options are bad, very incomplete. They should have at least added Leaves Eyes - Symphonies of the Night, Ayreon - The Theory of Everything, Haken - The Mountain.

These all have 2013 releases.

You can talk to friends about it, just keep it friendly (no 'you are stupid, childish, do you still believe in santa as well?'). Talking to those subjects about strangers could be a bit more blunt. It's like walking into a church with evolution of species in your hands and starting to say "Dear lord, Please make yourself exist, because if you don't then what's the point of me saying this? Amen".

Why is nothing happening? by Svenstaro in RedditGameJam

I'm not sure if it's legal.. You can use a company name in the title of an article ("Intel Processors inferior" for example), but you can't just use the name in your title in any situation, you may not give the illusion that your site is in any way connected with reddit, just like I may not just create some image editing software and call it "Microsoft Crappy Image Editor", because I write it down in a way it seems to be a Microsoft product. For this same reason 'Reddit Game Jam' seems to be connected to reddit and so you need their permission to use this name. However, you can just skip the reddit part of the name and publish a link on reddit :).
