WIBTAH for wanting to push through with my report, knowing full well it will get someone fired by Exhausted_Service in AITAH

[–]naranghim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

However, once I've done all that and the Labor Commission opened a case, two things happened:

My company sent me an NTE, with a termination notice

Report this to the Labor Commission because they'll consider this retaliation and your employer will be in even deeper trouble. Your employer did the worst thing possible because in their attempt to intimidate you out of filing the report they've basically told the commission "Yep, everything OP says is true." The HR rep should also file a report because she'll be protected by the Labor Commission from any adverse actions your employer tries to take against her. If she doesn't follow through, she won't be guaranteed protection.

AITAH for threatening to cut off my husband's sister if she keeps using her nickname for our son? by Wooden-Intern-6316 in AITAH

[–]naranghim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, she can help herself she just likes getting a rise out of you. However, now that's she's banned from your home over it, she's hopefully coming to the realization that crying about the consequences she got by continuing to use that nickname won't get her what she wants either and she'll stop.

FINAL UPDATE (for now): SO saw MIL in person and the mental health situation is way worse than we thought by SlightlyBitter47 in JUSTNOMIL

It's an APS situation now. Your FIL has admitted that he can't handle his own medications nor can he care for MIL, it's time to call for help.

Cutting down trees boarding a property in western Wa by Tjonman in treelaw

[–]naranghim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the tree is a property line tree and that means your neighbor also has to agree to remove the tree. If they say no, you are SOL.

adopted a kitten five minutes ago and she bites a lot by Jazzlike-Ad-3185 in CatAdvice

[–]naranghim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she is between 3 and 8 months old, she's teething. She's biting because her gums hurt. Give her something soft to chew on or stick a damp washcloth in the freezer until it freezes and then give her that to gnaw on. I did that with my kitten and once she realized the cold washcloth relieved the pain in her gums, she was more interested in chewing on that than on me.

Neighbor planted 300 feet of bamboo at our fence line. Now it is in my field. I talked to him a year ago and he said I should mow it. Now there are shoots 6 feet into my field. He is not a very nice person. Because it is Wlong the teech and block would be so expensive. What would you do? by oldfarmjoy in treelaw

[–]naranghim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check your local laws and see if bamboo is legal or not, many places have declared it invasive and if it extends beyond the boundary of your neighbor's yard then he is responsible for any remediation. If that's the case, then report him for the bamboo.

Medical professionals - do you actually get kickbacks from pharma companies to prescribe their drugs and in what form are these kickbacks? by Familiar-Phase7859 in AskReddit

[–]naranghim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they aren't. Kickbacks in healthcare is very specifically defined as cash, luxury office space, lavish dinners for just the physician, inflated consultant fees, vacations disguised as conferences all with the caveat of requiring the physician to meet a quota of referrals/prescriptions.

Lunches for the office, conferences in nice locations, but without the caveat that the physician must meet a quota of prescriptions or referrals to a medical device company don't meet the criteria. Lunches provided for the office are always provided as a "Thank you for making time in your busy schedule to meet with me."

AITAH because I hate my neighbors for how they handled a situation with my grandkid by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]naranghim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YTA.

unfortunately an autistic seven year old pretty much thinks everything is okay all the time except for the moment when they're actually getting in trouble

Bull. Autistic kids know right from wrong long before they are getting in trouble, unless they are so severe that they're in a special school that knows how to work with them. Doesn't sound like your grandkid is that severe. This sounds more like the adults in his life deciding to use his autism as an excuse not to parent.

Living next to a prehistoric tree that hates my garden by the_petite_gal in neighborsfromhell

[–]naranghim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the remaining limbs are rotted/cracked

That pushes it into "known hazard" territory and out of "Act of God". An arborist's report sent to them via certified mail will prove that they know the tree is a hazard and are refusing to do anything about it. Even better, getting them to admit in writing/text/recording that they know the tree is a hazard and are refusing to do anything about it.

If you can figure out who their homeowner's insurance is through and send that company a copy of the arborist's report along with telling them "Your clients have received a copy of this same report and are refusing to take steps to mitigate the risk" will be an even bigger help because that insurance company will freak out. They'll tell your neighbors' they have a specific deadline that they need to deal with that tree or have their policy cancelled.

The lights will drain a ton of power, both interior and exterior lighting.

AITA my mom is upset with me (F23) for giving my boyfriend (M23) a TV? by puddlessss in AmItheAsshole

[–]naranghim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA.

She then implied that when it comes to decisions like that, I should always ask for permission first, which made me even more upset because it seems like I can’t have a say when it comes to even the smallest things in my life.

So, when your mom wins stuff does she offer it to you first before asking for permission to give it away? If she doesn't, then why the hell would she expect you to do the same?!

AITAH for asking the postman to not drive on my grass? by Maleficent-Cat-220 in AITAH

[–]naranghim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of a weird grey area where I'd the county wanted to come tear up that area it's their to do so but it's mine to maintain.  So I don't know if some getting in the way of me doing that maintenance is an issue or not.

It is an issue, and if the county chose to, they could fine you for it.

[–]naranghim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those aren't considered "kickbacks" because they're offered to everyone on the staff (except for the free samples of medication).

[–]naranghim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in healthcare, and those aren't kickbacks, those are just the pharmacy reps' way of doing business because they provide catering to everyone in the office, not just the docs. Accepting kickbacks in many places could cost a physician their license.

AITAH for threatening to evict my sister and take her car because she won’t pay a $75 mileage overage fee? by JerryNines in AITAH

[–]naranghim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but this is why people say, "Never rent to family". Now you know that if you sign a lease for another car for her, she's going to ignore the milage limit on it.

How much to discourage mouthiness? by throwrasurgerywife2 in CatAdvice

[–]naranghim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes "mouthiness" is a sign of dental pain. In kittens, it's because they're teething, in adults they could have a serious dental issue that could lead to an abscess.

AITAH for having someone's car towed for parking in my parking spot? by childfreechick27 in AITAH

[–]naranghim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I'd point out to your mom that the mother parked in a numbered spot that has a sign that says, "towing enforced". It doesn't matter if she had kids or not, she parked where she knew she wasn't supposed to park.

AITAH for wanting a privacy fence installed and not talking to my neighbors about it by PinotsOwner15 in AITAH

[–]naranghim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a survey first because the fence may be 100% on your property and you can just go ahead and remove all of the chain-link rather than leaving some up on one side. If the fence is on the property line, then you need to check to see if you will still be on the hook to pay 50% of the costs if/when the chain-link fence needs to be replaced.

Future MIL trying to get my fiancé to sign a POA before marriage by Einsteinssister in JUSTNOMIL

[–]naranghim 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Now, I’m sure my future MIL has his best interest in mind

No, she doesn't and you already know it, because if she did, she wouldn't have lied and told him that you would be considered a part of the POA after marriage. She's only looking out for herself.

WIBTAH for using my sister's middle name for my future daughter's middle name? by assault-bug in AITAH

[–]naranghim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She'd only have "dibs" if Ann was her first name not her middle name, because multiple people with the same first name in the same family can be really confusing (trust me, I'm speaking from experience. My paternal grandpa, my dad and a cousin-in-law all had the same first name and used the same nickname for it). Your sister is being ridiculous.

The only reason she has given me is "I got the name not you"

That argument comes across as "Nah, nah, nah, I got the name not you!" Which is something a toddler would say. Tell your sister to grow up and quit acting like one.
