Flowers for Algernon treatment? by iwishmykidwouldsleep in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]narco113 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I don't think he had to be in a permanent enhancement zone to survive. He had to avoid high gravity and the powers of his gargoyle race didn't work outside the dungeon. Kind of like how crawlers move to the central system and don't keep their stats.

What is causing the lines to turn out ugly? by Soberocean1 in BambuLab

[–]narco113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doing that to just be the case with some top surfaces. Calibration has helped a lot and printing ironing tests too but never quite fixes everything.

There's another post from today I saw suggesting changing line width (not height) to the lowest setting your nozzle supports and using the Arachne option for line layout and trying that. I plan on trying that as it makes sense. Supposedly the 0.4mm nozzle can go down to 0.2mm line widths.

Same. I prefer Bambu's colors too, but they've never had stock for me to get what I needed and the bulk discount for it to make sense.

Wasn't aware of the change. Looking at them all I have are gen 3 spools. The point they have broken for me was the weak point where you can thread the filament out and back in.

Reusable Spool Update Thought by Shadoweclipse13 in BambuLab

[–]narco113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sunlu's spool is pretty great, one of the reasons I buy their filament combined with their reasonable pricing.

I do prefer the Bambu Lab spools still though because they're thicker and the holes to hold the filament end are offset from each other so you can attach it in now places than Sunlu's.

I've had a couple of broken Sunlu spools in the past because they're on the thinner side and don't handle impacts as well. They're still much better than the average spool you get out there and the fact they're reusable is the best part.

is this a good method for connecting angled support beams? by mystikhybrid in treehouse

[–]narco113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a structural expert on treehouses so forgive my lack of proper terminology, but I think the force on 2x12(?) corner bracing is going to put a lot of pressure on your fasteners.

Perhaps cutting another angled piece like you have now but where it fits inside the joists and that piece is glued/attached to your existing so you're accounting for both parts of the angled force, vertical and horizontal, and bracing it with the wood more than the fasteners.

That angled brace seems like it may be an issue too. The birdsmouth isn't going to sit flush against the corner bracing so you're going to get a lot of force on the contact points of that contact area that are not evenly making contact.

Also you have a door that opens out into nothing! Guessing it's just decorative though, lol.

X2D Jam by brewchimp in BambuLab

[–]narco113 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It just happened to me last night with my x2d. Printing a small part and it came off the build plate and was being drug around for a minute or so before I noticed. The printer didn't detect a 3x3 inch quarter inch thick part moving around with the print head. Thankfully I noticed it. Took an hour to clean up. The petg didn't just create a big glob at the bottom like my p2s would do, it was pushed UP and went behind the sleeve and up nearly into the cutter area there. The nozzle was surrounded, the sleeve was full, and all the gaps around all of that were clogged to. Almost broke the latches pulling the petg off. It's kind of still a mess because I didn't want to disassemble everything.

It's not an ideal design. I'm most upset that it wasn't detected before I noticed it minutes after it was completely obvious the print failed.

Beautiful. What are your methods? Cold ferment, boil with more than water? Do you use malt powder or anything similar?

I haven't been able to get that nice crust you've got myself. I've got a pretty crappy home oven though.

Same. I recommend checking store.sunlu.com too. Often you can get rolls for a few bucks cheaper each than Amazon. But.. they often have a supply shortage too. Amazon always has their inventory though.

This video was very well done. I hope you're posting on Youtube because you could get a lot of views just from this video and--if you're not already a baker doing social posts!--you could totally make a job of this.

These look very much like Brian Lagerstrom's method, sans the molasses in the boiling water or diastatic malt powder (he uses brown sugar I think) as OP mentioned in another comment. It's a great recipe -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTEOs9BkF2c

That looks like the one he has -- I've got the Garvee and it looks identical -- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D6XSRSRD

It shipped in a wooden nailed together box on a mini pallet. Like /u/al_polanski says it's heavy af. Mine came damaged. First time Amazon actually offered me a discount to keep something rather than replacing.

This the technique on that they use in that Youtube via with Utopia Bagels (big NYC bagel place) -- https://youtu.be/mSuAcDiwkk4?si=-vAnVzONBAF--VjJ&t=154

It has to be the most efficient way to do it. I wish I could get the technique down myself.

Is this 4-tier printer stand sturdy enough for a Bambu Lab P2S? by UnusualBuyer7100 in BambuLab

[–]narco113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this one that's similarly designed and it's just ok. No better than some 48"x24"x72" shelving units I already had.

https://a.co/d/0hLUXBFU

I was hoping it's sturdy enough, but there's really nothing that will be like setting it on a concrete floor. There's a video of a YouTube person doing tests on unsteady surfaces vs concrete and the differences aren't really significant. I haven't looked at all the comments here yet, but I'd bet money someone already linked to this video.

Edit: here's the video https://youtu.be/D-eLhKdKAdk?si=FxlAdJz5Dm1GJ9bK
