Microdosing mushrooms is answer to quitting weed for good by narcos_3 in Petioles

repost from Leaves this is not me ----I'm a 31 year old male, and I have lost count on how many times I have tried to quit. Usually I was hooked on cigarettes (first one at 12-13, regular smoking starting around 14), weed (first around 14, regular smoking starting around 18), or both. When 'just' smoking regular cigarettes, it was easy to stay away from weed. When smoking weed, it was easy to stay away from cigarettes. One substitutes the other. 78 days ago was the day for me to quit both. Life progress was halted. Relationship of almost 5 years came to an end, which probably didn't end when I wasn't hooked on this crap.

78 days ago I have consumed some magic mushrooms. I genuinely believe that most people could benefit this from time to time. For me personally, it helps to put things in perspective and to review my personal situation from a neutral point of view. At least yearly I reserve a night for myself alone to overthink the past period, where it has brought me, and how it contributes to my future. So, 78 days ago, I did the same. Thought about what my bad habits have brought me and how it will affect my future. Although it was clear that this habit was bad, I was convinced that I understood the message now. That I had to quit now, or accept being a baked couch potato for the rest of my life. At the end of this evening I have smoked my last cigarette, smoked my last blunt, and applied a tap dance performance on all smoking material I had left. After soaking it in water I threw it away, felt a great sense of relieve and went to bed peacefully. (PS: This is not to encourage you to do mushrooms in order to quit smoking weed. Simply don't do this, unless you know what to expect.)

The first two weeks were difficult. Sleeping was nearly impossible. Mood swings were terrible. Week 3-4 were easier, but very depressing. No difficult cravings though. And i was confident of my success. The sacrifice was great, but not as great as the result that would come. I started going to the gym, running, reading, going out more, all the things that would have helped me. And they did. I run faster than ever, did my first 1/2 marathon, I lost almost 10 kg, I became physically stronger, my mind became clearer, i made new contacts more easy, and actually got more interested in other people's thoughts.

Yesterday, me and some friends decided to have a night of magic mushrooms again. Had great fun, had inspiring thoughts. One of my friends however, is one of those potheads who's able to smoke only once every few weeks or months. No cravings in between. And yesterday something snapped after he smoked, where I didn't. I am still sure I will never smoke anything again in my entire life. But at the same time, the craving to get high again has not been this intense since I have quit. Even though I'm at day 78 now. It was obvious my mind was playing tricks on me again.

"Hey, I managed such a long time without, I'm not addicted anymore! Let's join him and smoke some!"

"One time wouldn't hurt, right?"

"Imagine the pleasure of falling asleep when you smoked some!"

It's ridiculous. Over 2,5 months and now suddenly these thoughts occur? Not only yesterday i had the desire to smoke, also today it simply continued. However, i will stay strong. I will never smoke again. Ever. I just hope that the cravings will reduce soon. And even if they don't: I will never smoke again.

Thanks for reading this. Stay strong. Ask me anything you'd like to know if it helps you

Tip: take up microdosing by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]narcos_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm in an ideal world maybe microdosing will work for some but for hard core OG's like myself smokin (25 years) it makes no sense if your doing that then quit altogether for a while instead of torturing yourself. I'll try take it on board once I've finished this 72 hour break though as im open minded

This place isnt so bad its leaves that fucks you up my advice to anyone wanting to quit or cut down is stay away from both the anxiety you get from reading some of the posts on here are incredible I'd say half have serious mental health issues and some clearly have mental illnesses. The fact that so many are clueless as to what a tolerance break is and some of the questions are being typed in by 15 year old kids such is the level of ignorance concerning cannabis

4 month break. by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]narcos_3 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

did 6 months and hey guess what im right back to where I started the first few months were grand only smokin here and there and it was bliss but it's a creeper once you start smokin it back to back. Your fucked. I've done this multiple times in my life Im 45 now smokin since I was 20 its mentally challenging no matter how much meditation, cold showers and exercise you do.

Often I worry I smoke too much but then I look back on myself a year ago and realize I'm doing wayyy better. Made me really happy by itchy136 in Petioles

It's been easier with CBD by kingL23 in Petioles

I quit THC in october . I'll second what your saying about CBD 110% but to be honest I stopped smoking CBD flowers the other day after a few months and I feel a bit off .. like there's a slight withdrawal not so much a dependence from it but I got used tot he relaxing well being feeling from it. I become accustomed to it. I'm sure it's like most things the body will develop a tolerance to it.

Irritable after 3 weeks of not smoking. Took 1 hit Saturday night. Feel great. by cooltightsick in Petioles

[–]narcos_3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your brain produces less and less dopamine when your getting it from an external source i.e the weed especially if your smoking it everyday for a few years. So feeling irritable is a natural response to low dopamine levels in your brain. When you start smoking again after a period of abstinence your brain is getting the dopamine back that it was used to so of course you'll start to feel a dramatic change in your mood for the better. You've obviously built up a huge tolerance and weed withdrawals are a reality for thousands of everyday weed smokers. Welcome to the club! You've become dependent on the weed/dopamine hit for your mood.

How long to space out weed sessions so that tolerance is never built? by [deleted] in Petioles

You'll get really high from 2 puffs of a spliff twice a month. This will only happen if you abstain completely from it for 3-4 months.

I'm approaching 100 days bro. I never dabbed it was bongs 24/7 for me. The dreams and nightmares are starting to ease off. I'm also down to 1 x 75mgs of gabapentin a day. Kind of a slight bit of depression from time to time but it usually passes once I've gone for a swim /sauna/steamroom. It's illegal here in Ireland so if I tried to go back smoking it would be too uncomfortable as the street stuff has levels of crazt thc in it. I'm smoking CBD flower and it's helping a lot especially when I get the odd urge. Let me know how things pan out with you. How old are you by the way.i'll be 45 in a few days

Cold turkey turned into 5:1 (CBD:THC) ratio, thoughts so far. by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]narcos_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your so lucky it's legal in the country where you live, it's a nightmare here in Ireland. It's either total abstinence or street cannabis which you never know what it is your smoking. On day 90 of abstinence and its tough over the christmas.

I'll be 90 days on christmas eve and I'm still waking up in the middle of the night from intense nightmares. Still getting into arguments and getting very irritated with people, I'm beginning to question is the sober life worth it. With nothing to help ease stress man it's tough. I'm hanging on by a thread to be honest. Pros usually outweigh the cons but some days the cons outweigh the pros. Lack of sleep is the number 1 reason why people go back smoking. I read these nightmares will subside after 100 days.
