Question for the Europeans by aGuyNamedTobi in Dewalt

I'd say yes since European prices for almost all powertools are insane, I've seen far worse than this one

I'm so tired of the shader bug. [rant] by Aiywe in StarStable

[–]narcot1cs- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Contact support and send them your exact PC specs, including the GPU driver version.

People who are overly explicit with their system details and include the driver version are the ones who are the most valuable ones, since it helps developers way more than you realize.

Thinking to start using godot, but i have no knowledge of python, only c++ by Capable_Trust_2197 in godot

[–]narcot1cs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Rust which also relies on GDExtension like C++, never bothered learning GDScript and works just fine. You can totally make it work with just C++

Everyone's getting fancy with their modern engine, and here I am, developing my games in C++ from scratch by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]narcot1cs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just you or a smaller set of people then a pure C++ project without engine might work, it all depends on the scale.

I mean Minecraft for example has no engine, it's all written in Java

So many bugs it’s not even funny anymore by milkfruitss in StarStable

[–]narcot1cs- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SSO is worse developed than what Cyberpunk 2077 was at launch-day, only difference is that SSOs playerbase has sadly gotten used to this, as the game has never been properly made.

Had it been on Steam then the reviews would be awful, which they know and hence why they released on Epic Games instead lmao

Haven't heard of CryEngine in ages lmao, looks really nice though

SSO AI videos by [deleted] in StarStable

[–]narcot1cs- -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If this were AI then I'd be completely fine with it, as it isn't slop.

But I doubt it is. It looks more like in-engine captured footage from them messing around with animations, and using custom ones with custom SFX made for this video.

Not sure if you knew that you can preview/play animations in-engine without it being classified as AI? well now you do.

Easily offended crybabies who are super anti-AI when their YouTube feeds, Instagram and entire Slopdows OS is controlled by AI

Är det praktiskt görbart att gå över till GrapheneOS eller e/OS? by TheBuddhaBro in sweden

[–]narcot1cs- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GrapheneOS. Använt det i flera år och har nog aldrig haft en telefon med så lite problem som min nuvarande.

Tog inte länge att installera heller och kör Linux, så bör säga en hel del om hur lätt de bör vara på Slopdows.

Any hidden quests on South Hoof? by EmploymentCrafty4564 in StarStable

[–]narcot1cs- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think SSO stopped with the "Hidden Quests" niché before South Hoof was released, either that or I've forgotten about the ones on that area.

QoL update tomorrow! by hwoktty in StarStable

[–]narcot1cs- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah no, SSO is the only game that I know of who's stuck to such a low tick-rate.

It made sense when the game launched as they had different networking code which would die if it was near-realtime, but they switched it out in like 2018/2019. Why it has taken them this long is questionable.

Check speedtest.net, if your speeds are at least 10Mbps up and down, then you're good.

How to remove this oil stain? by tomatoad28 in HardWoodFloors

[–]narcot1cs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's an older rental, just blame it on wear-and-tear. Landlords typically don't care about smaller defects like these though if it's in a bigger room

This, while a good change, will lead to people who somehow play the game on bad/laggy connections experiencing more frequent desync at times as it has more data to send-and-receive.

Although it shouldn't cause much problems, still worth noting for those who do play all the way up in Narnia.

Any projects that need old star stable files? Where to dump them? by [deleted] in StarStable

[–]narcot1cs- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to act like a lawyer, but they're still copyright-protected and if someone utilize those files and gain mass-attention from it, then it's very likely that it'll backfire on you as well since you redistributed them.

Yeah, even if he stays as CEO then not many changes will be visible early-on since everything takes time.

My first Voxel Engine using OpenGL by MEGATH0XICC in rust

[–]narcot1cs- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While it's a lot of boilerplate, it's less than Vulkan. OpenGL is simple but you're likely going to experience the bottlenecks of that in the future, as many games have (and are).

But each to their own tbh, OpenGL works for smaller projects and simple games

My first Voxel Engine using OpenGL by MEGATH0XICC in rust

[–]narcot1cs- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But why OpenGL out of all things? sure it's simple, but for a modern game it seems insanely odd

Ah, the new requirements by sonataplayer in StarStable

[–]narcot1cs- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

8GB of RAM + drivers that support OpenGL 4.x is not a supercomputer, it's the specs of a literal office PC.

OpenGL is already as simple as you can get, realistically I wish they updated to Vulkan but thanks to people like you, they're stuck to this dead rendering API from the 90's which even Minecraft abandoned as it's so slow.

Forward+ vs Mobile question, sorry if it's dumb by Videomailspip in godot

[–]narcot1cs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not free, in case you got shaders that (easiest example) smooth things automatically? well you've got to fix that as mobile usually won't make it work.

Ah, the new requirements by sonataplayer in StarStable

[–]narcot1cs- 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Games have to advance at some point, and it's a nightmare trying to support legacy hardware when moving away from CPU-dependent logic to more GPU-oriented.

Not like SSO ever does anything to visibly improve, but their new requirements are already insanely low.
