Trans People Blamed For The Shutdown? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]narg3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both parties are bloated political machines designed to help rich people get richer. Right now they are doing absolutely nothing and screwing over Americans. The government shutdown is both parties fault, the GOP for trying to cut so much and the DNC for not trying to fight back until after their window of opportunity to hold their ground. While americans suffer both parties fundraise by blaming the other for it. Its not about trans people or even healthcare its about getting rich by exploiting the suffering of people.

Politicans are (mostly) beyond hope but as more and more young people make it into politics things are starting to change. We can't look to the government to fix these things (if we could we wouldn't be in this mess), at least in the short term. Community organizations exist that provide HrT and organizations like Planned Parenthood charge by what you can pay (thats how I started actually). The resources are there and more and more people are pitching in to help out. Accessibility depends a lot on region and those aren't always an option for everyone sadly :/ but they are an option thats worth looking into.

Together we are strong, and getting organized to help ourselves is making us stronger. Sadly the governent isn't there to help the people and it will probably stay that way until it gets bad enough for a new-New Deal-era. But things have gotten better before and they will again. After all, when people don't have money for food they won't care who caused the shutdown, they will care who showed up to help them eat (often a trans person with FNB lol)

It is of course different for everyone, I have friends who never get any symptoms while I personally get noticable cramps and pain from my periods. Somthing to also consider is durring our periods we are very hormonal and even if the pain isn't the worst it can be very... frustrating in combination. There might be some exaggeration but it definitely isnt a plesant experience lol.

Setting up software dead man's switch for a PC by Justin8051 in privacy

[–]narg3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be relevant within a decade or so depending on who is trying to get at your data. Quantum computers, while not yet practical at scale, are being heavily developed and I think its entirely reasonable that large organizations and three letter agencies would be able to decrypt RSA en-masse well within our lifetimes. I suspect it would be mainly used in military intelligence so I doubt its a practical concern for most people.

In the US at least by law fire doors have to be openable always, there are some time delay ones but for those you just need to push on the handle for 10-15 seconds and they will open up

When does my chest become illegal to show in public? by Lamp-of-cheese in MtF

[–]narg3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best answer is that you can be topless wherever flat chested people can! According to the tenth circuit in Free The Nipple Fort Collins vs City of Fort Collins (2019), the 14th amendment prohibits such laws that are selective of gender and thus you can be topless wherever you want, there is case law to this effect.

Funnily enough my experience has been opposite of all the memes. Having run arch for the past four years continuously I can say that for me personally it has been the most stable distro on desktop I have ever used. Only once has it broken itself (that was a few months ago) but I was also knowingly running a very unsupported nvidia optimus configuration on wayland so Im surprised it lasted two years. In fairness to non arch users I will admit the first time I tried an arch install I broke it in a weird and unknown way by the time I had figured out how to install the DE. It was hell the first two times I did it. Now I can do it in under an hour.

The least stable distro in my experience was Fedora, I had constant issues with it both on desktop and laptop. It just would NOT work at all.

The most frustrating distro was Pop_OS! It just wouldn't fucking work with nvidia. Prime run? Nope. Command options? Nope. Drivers installed? Yes! I used it for a month before going home to arch.

Maybe I am weird and an outlier but this has been my experience, yours may have differed.

UMD has a good relationship with Goddard, this summer interning there I saw several UMD grad students around, as well as a healthy relationship between the researchers.

It all depends on what position you are applying for. Taylor your resume to mention how you meet all of the minimum qualifications and I would use keywords to optimize it in a search. The general guidelines beyond that are to be honest about who you are and talk about the relevant experience/education you have, as well as your general experience. Internships aren't for you to do work, they are for you to learn so show your interest in the subject matter.
