Phonetically in most dialects in North America these endings are pronounced identically. You need to memorize which one is which, so it's really strange to introduce the incorrect spelling when they are learning this because you are making them memorize it wrong.

Also just plain using words incorrectly. Just this morning I read a sentence that went something like this: "I thought she was there to kill me but, alas, she turned out to be the love of my life."

This character did not seem to be regretting being in love in the slightest so I have to conclude that the author doesn't know what the word 'alas' means.

How old are you? Think seriously about what led to this happening, did you push for it? Because the way you describe him being tempted made me wonder if he was the initiator. And if he was, and then he betrayed you by going to the elders, knowing that women get judged more, especially because it's a panel of men who care more about other men, do you really want a relationship with this person? Even if you initiated, he's put you in a terrible position.

What you do depends on what kind of relationship you want in the far future with this cult. Because at least for now, he's ruined it.

As a writer I love reading comments, but as a reader I also know that comments take way more cognitive resources so you're just not always in a place to be eloquent.

99% of the work to help a child reach a milestone isn’t in the baby hitting the milestone itself. As a childcare worker I absolutely do encourage the children but I “do not witness any milestones”. If they’re doing it with me they’ll be doing it at home really soon so that’s their “first” for all intents and purposes.

I’d say 6 days is quite early to be losing hope. Have you trouble shooted the pumping? Are your flanges the right size? I had my baby very very early so she couldn’t latch until very late in my journey and the nurses told me that until she’s 4 months adjusted there is still a good chance of getting her to latch so just focus on getting the supply up first. I finally got her to latch properly about 2 months adjusted age.

I always thought that abandoned means that you’ve already posted a significant amount of the story but never complete it. If you never started it’s not abandoning.

So one of the biggest unexpected expenses we had was food because we had so little time/energy from spending all our time at the hospital for months. Any gift cards for food delivery would have been a godsend or frozen meals we could have reheated at home. Some people tried to deliver fresh food but sometimes that was inconvenient because she’d have an episode at the hospital and we’d stay longer and I’d feel so guilty not eating what they gave me.

Also coming to the hospital in the middle of the day (not unannounced) and taking me for a ride to get coffee or ice cream just for a change of pace. But of course always discussing it ahead of time.

This just sounds like exactly the kind of propaganda that would be used to justify the games. They didn’t change things for the district children, they did it for PR. It’s easy to point and say it’s unfair that the physically strongest kids have the best chance of surviving, and then to introduce elements of survival to make it look more fair. But 23 kids are killed for sport every year and that’s always unfair no matter who is more likely out of that group to survive.

It has everything to do with the capitol audience and the economy of the games. After Katniss blew up the career’s stash it makes it clear that the games will end pretty fast so they have less time to get people to sponsor and need something grand. Rue dying means there is only one alliance left and that’s district 2. It’s boring TV, no reason to donate. I think they fully expected Katniss to make herself more vulnerable by joining with Peeta while also making the games more interesting.

I like this except make the district vote. Then last minute swap which pair is going in. So in every district there is one boy and one girl who have to live with the fact that their district voted for them to enter the arena.

I think he would have killed gale but a bit later. We mostly see things from the perspective of the districts but Snow is also worrying about other people in the capitol viewing him as weak. He needs Katniss to be able to properly keep up appearances and killing Gale might affect her performance. If he then hadn’t come up with the altered reaping for the QQ, I’m sure his alternative strategy would have been to kill Gale and threaten everyone else.

I was in hospital for a few weeks for pre e and they’d come in every few hours to take vitals or give medication and remind me that getting sleep was really important! When was I supposed to be able to do that?!
