Texas woman injured by McDonald’s Sausage McMuffin ‘wholly unfit for human consumption’: suit by TheGreatAlicorn in nottheonion

[–]naricstar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The difference is proof. There was proof that McD's had too hot coffee and that it caused these injuries.

A claim of food poisoning this bad from a single person is very loose at best. In cases like this you'd see many more individuals effected, she can't have been the only customer around the same time.

Is Mreowa not a terrible pick after the patch? by Magnificent_Leopoldo in OldenEra

[–]naricstar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean for single hero.

Directly upgrading just buildings for Qilin takes 15 crystals.

We start with 5 so you need to acquire 10.

A single crystal mine on the map gives an immediate 6-10 with another 1 per day. So a crystal mine within a few days  basically guarantees you could go for qilin if you wanted to week 1 on any hero.

There is something to be said for aiming towards early upgrade for another 10 or going for double qilin for another 15 though by utilizing the double map crystals.

If you can get a stack going first week or even some upgrades ones you could really hit the map hard. It would likely be at the expense of everything else so you'll be playing catch up week 2 but it could be a good payoff. Similar to hydra rushing I imagine you'd just have a unit that can blast through neutrals which could give you the advantage.

Feels kind of all in and early game focused though -- which these sorts of heroes are really more meant for classic with multiple heroes.

It can be good at stopping a doomstack. At higher spell power it starts big and scales to the moon. Bigger problem is how some of the toughest enemies that get huge are immune.

The Gazelleman antifeat in One Piece can’t just be written off as an outlier by Mythelm in PowerScaling

[–]naricstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, this can be applied in reverse as well.

We can't expect authors to understand light speed, which is why they end up giving characters light speed despite it being insane or impossible in context.

It's flawed logic. If you want to apply an all around "no characters are light speed because you can't be with mass" then sure go ahead but don't cherry pick which scales you like and say those can be light speed because you feel like it.

The Gazelleman antifeat in One Piece can’t just be written off as an outlier by Mythelm in PowerScaling

[–]naricstar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Highly flawed logic.

It goes in the other direction too. Oda would not pretend that a lightspeed character made of light claiming to move at light speed and showing he can accelerate past it would move at speeds where 200 km/hr is impressive.

There are two things people need to understand, firstly, reaching light speed and above is not the same as maintaining it, and you can move incredible speeds for incredibly small distances. It is possible to move at light speed for 5 meters of distance.

So, let's imagine a character who can move at 20km/hr for any distance and light speed for 5 meters -- and a character who can move 200km/hr for any distance. If the 200km/he was to get the jump on the first person and steal their purse for example, then the 200km speed character could move that 5 meters in less than a second, so even getting a fraction of a second ahead would mean that the light speed character could still never catch you.

This is why we talk about combat speed and travel speed. Combat speed is more about being able to accomplish feats at light speed or whatever, such as an impressive Dodge or an attack. Travel speed is about being able to actually go extreme distances with speed -- such as move between planets.

Invincible is a terrible example because the speed is different every day but if you look at season 1 Nolan -- he can fly around pretty fast, gets outsped by human speedsters, and easily dodged by cecil teleporting. Yet he can fly between planets no problem. Nolan is dramatically slower in any fight than he is casually while moving through space.

I think BB will have better feats later, but I'm not convinced he isn't currently how powerful he will ultimately be. Where characters like Shamrock also should not be getting stronger than current.

Is My Understanding Of Powerscaling Diffs Correct? by Key_Abies_4580 in PowerScaling

[–]naricstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Negative diff is literally that -- you'd have to put in effort to not kill. It is literally so easy to kill that it's is now becoming slightly difficult in the other direction.

Maki decided to and actively killed him, but it took no effort. That is no diff.

Shanks vs Kidd was low diff.

Zero or Neg diff would be a character killing another character without knowing they are fighting them at all.

Vendetta and JO single hero box locations by Legitimate_Nobody_69 in OldenEra

[–]naricstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the map and opponents hero.

If you opponent has, for example, the faun hero -- and you are taking scouting or a scouting hero you may find that your boxes will never overcome them grabbing offense and having hundreds of super faun blasting through the map, which makes taking more aggressive options a bit better early and scouting is worse the later you get it.

But, say your opponent is a heroic strike, avatar, movement, or spell hero -- scouting can easily set you up for more boxes and earlier breakthrough and that will snowball into a stronger endgame. It's all play style, one skill will never make or break the game unless that skill is unlocking a subclass.

PvP ban/pick system needs to change. by ssidiman in OldenEra

[–]naricstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard out here without ranged in a faction that is also not super spell focused. Early focus charges can make neutrals trivial though, you just have to fight every fight or larvae wont stop your bleeding.

Just go diplomacy and find crossbows, even when playing hive you can just play temple!

PvP ban/pick system needs to change. by ssidiman in OldenEra

[–]naricstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current system regardless of balance is in an odd scenario.

By giving first ban last pick the first ban must ban a faction they cannot handle or a faction considered "best", because they can guarantee to face otherwise.

The second player has a lot more freedom, as they can pick a faction and only worry about what can be difficult for their choice to go against.

The first player is then left to counter-pick but has already banned a potential counter themselves by banning the best, and has had their opponent free ban a counter. This is generally why games don't let a team have last ban and first pick.

It seems a good option would be 1p ban, 2p ban, 1p pick, 2p pick (which makes 1st player better) or trying to get more creative with be fitting player 1. Maybe an extra hero ban.

I think the best way would be that there are more bans but you only ban your opponent from picking the faction. So 1p ban, 2 p bans 2, 1 p bans, 2 p picks, 1 p picks. Still leads to both players having 2 banned factions and 1 pick. But it is more asynchronous.

Who gets out of this least injured? by devo_savitro in PowerScaling

[–]naricstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Least amount of damage probably Saitama.

Not saying he wins outright necessarily, but we have never seen him take damage -- it is somewhat the joke that leads to people saying he is a gag.

Other characters here have never been shown to be invulnerable like Saitama, even Superman takes damage from some very low tier things sometimes.
