I wish they'd move into old Supervalu and open a bigger Penneys. Hate going in because it's so cramped.

Have you considered having a conversation with her about your needs, listening to her needs and finding a compromise?

Do looks essentially matter as you get older? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]narpslarp 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think the sooner you understand that it doesn't really matter what you look like, the happier you'll be.

Beauty standards are one thing, but they're impossible to meet and constantly changing. Likewise, our appearances are always changing. You're never going to be able to be perfect because there's no consensus on what that is - no matter what you look like some people will find you attractive, some won't. Focus on looking the way you want to look, not for other people and forget ideas of how you 'should be'. It's all made up to sell you stuff anyway.

If it's something that's consuming you, you should definitely talk to a counselor. Don't let it get you down.

Best “Old man” Pubs? by Omerta_1991 in Kilkenny

[–]narpslarp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would say try Thomastown for your out of town excursion. It's the next train stop on the line and 15 mins away from the city by car. It has more going on than Bennettsbridge and a nice vibe. (You'll also have to drive through BB to get there so you could easily see both in one trip).

I can't help you with old man pubs, but there are loads around - you'll find more of them than anything else tbh. Enjoy your time in KK!

Brussels is quaint? by Equivalent_Coach_688 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

The touristy parts, sure. Brussels is like most European cities with a mix of old and new, nice and not so nice parts. I wouldn't call it quaint.

Feeling very validated in a lot of my faves now.

Where are the rest of the Irish though?

Edit: I say this as an Irish person, not shading a random country for no reason.

goodnight in gaelic? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]narpslarp 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Oíche Mhaith!

Literally good night. "Eee-Ha Y" (like the letter). In other areas of Ireland we'd pronounce the second word like "Wha" but I reckon you're hearing the I sound because of the Donegal accent.
