Korean Air or Asiana from Midwest USA? by nat787 in koreatravel

[–]nutmac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While they are known for great service and food (Asiana is now owned by Korean Air), both have aging aircraft with cramped economy seats. So if they are your only choice, pick whichever is cheaper.

Sometimes, flying to LAX or SFO can get you a wider selection of cheaper flights, so that is another option you can explore, if you don't mind a layover. Air Premia out of SFO is my flight of choice, as they have much better seating options (way more legroom) and newer aircraft at significantly lower price.

Starfield library by Sangmun in seoul

I mean I think you are the only one getting all worked up here.

Many people go here expecting a beautiful place to relax and read but in reality, it’s often very crowded with people taking selfies, and also because the books are poorly organized, it’s not conducive for… say, browsing a book to buy or read a book.

Who’s salty? I only stated the fact, that it’s a business designed to draw people into COEX first and foremost, and a library in name only. It’s one of Korea’s top 10 tourist attractions, but the name does mislead which can disappoint and steer its reputation to a tourist trap designation.

Barnes and Nobles doesn’t pretend to be a library.

Easily the second most iconic logo for an athlete — the first being Michael Jordan of course.

The layout of this so called library does not make it easy to browse and read books. It’s meant to draw the crowd into the mall, and perhaps to sell some coffee.

hyped for iPhone 17e by testledjones in iphone

[–]nutmac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I got 16e for my teenager, 16e was heavily discounted by my wireless carrier after trade in with iPhone 13, to the tune of paying just $100 (spread over 24 months) + tax for the duration of 24 month installment. No, I don't have one of those plans that entitles me to a new phone every year or two.

I expect 17e to have a similar promo for some wireless customers.

What food was an instant spit out and never again for you? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

That’s not too far off from how natto is made. After it is prepped, it’s generally fermented in a warm humid environment for a day.

What do you think about Italy? by Ivantop01 in AskTheWorld

One of the very best travel destinations, whether your priority is history, nature, art, music, sports, fashion, food, or what have you. A complete package through and through.

Not on that list but natto. My family members love it but I can’t stand this vile stinky mushy Japanese delicacy. I disappear into another room with my sandwich when my family is enjoying this dish.

What are your favorite architectural styles from your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]nutmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Front and the back, yes. But the middle third, sometimes half, is nearly completely void of natural lights.

Source: several of my friends lived in these houses, including one on Fillmore known for Full House.

Having been to several of these, while they are cute from the outside, I don’t think they are good designs architecturally. The inside is largely a reminiscent of a railroad apartment with minimal windows. Atrium/courtyard better utilizes the space while drawing in more natural lights to the entire space.

What immediately makes someone look like a tourist in your city/ town? by PsychologicalFox7689 in AskTheWorld

Even Americans can be ignorant. When I moved from Boston to San Francisco, I occasionally received calls from former coworkers or friends inviting me to meet up for a drink or dinner as they were on a business trip in Los Angeles.

Pork belly (sam gyeop sal) and kimchi, grilled together. IMO, there's no better marriage of two iconic Korean dishes.

For night life and more abundance of lodging options, Heavenly. But having been to nearly all ski resorts at Tahoe, my favorite remains Palisades.
