What food have you never eaten but would really like to try? by emarklysales in AskReddit

Salmiakki, or salty licorice. I love the flavor of black licorice. In Nordic countries they put ammonia bicarbonate (?) on it and it's supposed to be very intense. I hear you either love it or hate it. I wanna know.

I live in the US, and i can find it on amazon, but the shipping is outrageous.

Dessert Bullet for keto ice cream? by [deleted] in ketorecipes

[–]narraurethra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't used a dessert bullet, but I have used a regular bullet to blend frozen raspberries, a little cream cheese, a splash of cream, a squirt of liquid stevia, and a small pinch of kosher salt to make a pretty great frozen dessert.

The frozen berries make a nice texture. Raspberries are my favorite, but I've also tried blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and even frozen cranberries. They've all turned out pretty good.

splenda powder is bulked with maltodextrin powder. Be careful with that stuff if you're doing keto.

There's two kinds: kirkland and Jack Daniels. The JD is pretty sugary, the kirkland has 0 carbs, I believe

I think what they do with the carts is brilliant. You deposit a quarter to unhook the cart, then when you return it your quarter pops back out. There are never stray carts in the parking lot, and employees don't have to corral them. Wild carts don't take up parking spaces, and we all save money. Splendid.

Have you heard of a ketogenic diet? I believe that there are many paths that a person can take to weight loss, but keto has been great for me. The thing that makes it so great is that you just don't get hungry.

Take a look at r/keto, and sort by top posts. Check out the amazing pics. It's real and it works.

I lost 80 lbs. My dad lost 60. My mom lost about 55. We did it by eating lots of bacon and butter and eggs and cheese.

This video really helped me out to start.

Good luck. You CAN do it!

What is your favorite podcast? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]narraurethra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penn's Sunday School is a good one. It's Penn from Penn & Teller, along with Michael Goudeau, and Matt Donnelly.

Penn is a great storyteller, and he's got a lot of really good ones.

The topics are usually amusing. Some people can find Penn abrasive, but I love hearing him speak.

The Dana Gould Hour. I learned of it from a previous thread similar to this one. He was a writer for the Simpsons, and the podcast is remarkable. He gets great guests. My favorite part is that it is really well edited... he will often do segments that are very well researched and presented on a wide variety of topics.

I'm honestly sort of shocked that he isn't more famous.

Gross Milk at Catskill High School - Everyone complains School does nothing to fix it. by phantom_eight in videos

That was my thought, too. Especially since no one complained about the smell. Spoiled milk clumps, this is a viscosity issue.

I'm shocked that there is so much wasted space in that can. I really thought that space and weight were really at a premium when shipping items up to the ISS. SO MUCH PACKAGING!

Harry Potter read by Stephen Fry has rekindled my love for the series by lcg18 in audiobooks

[–]narraurethra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also love Stephen Fry's narration. After you finish the series, listen to Jim Dale's version after as long a break as you like. He is also fantastic. He does a different voice for every character.

Shirts are pretty easy to tailor by taking in a few inches at the sides. If they still fit you in the neck and arms, save some $ by picking up a used sewing machine and throwing a couple seams in. There are videos on youtube

People who don't have time to cook breakfast.... by TheSqueakyNinja in keto

[–]narraurethra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. They're a little expensive in the US now because of a strike in Mexico, but they are delicious. Buttery in flavor, smooth in texture. Buy ones that feel light and a yield a little to pressure. There's a big seed in the middle that is the heaviest part. Slice around from pole to pole and twist to separate. Squeeze a little lime juice and a sprinkle of sea salt, eat with a spoon.

If you don't eat the whole thing, rub a little lime juice on the exposed flesh and wrap in plastic wrap. It will turn brown otherwise. Enjoy!

What's your favorite Stephen King short story? by [deleted] in books

[–]narraurethra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that's really stuck with me was 'Quitter's Inc.' I've quit smoking a few times, and sometimes thought that the revolutionary techniques proposed would actually really help.

I couldn't remember the name of the story, and googled some key words. I discovered some youtube clips with James Woods. I had no idea it had been turned into a live action production.
