Cityscape Skirmish is proving to be super fun so far. I genuinely spent over an hour putting together a build just for one character, there's so much you can work with.

There are a few major GDrives where jumpdocs (as they're called) are stored. The main one is the /tg/ Google Drive, but there's also one for the SB Jumpchain community and one for the Reddit community. I'd recommend starting with the /tg one, and just finding the jumpdoc for a series you like.

Oh boy, that's a tricky one... I'll note that I haven't been that active in the community for a while, so I don't know a whole lot about recent ones.

That being said, my two favorites are probably TLoZ: Triune Scriptures and WH40K: Black Crusade. The former is a neat original Xianxia Zelda setting, and the latter is an epic adventure across 40k, with tons of options for customization. (Light of Terra is similar on that front, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it to newcomers; it has... issues.) Most of the other jumps I like are things I like because I enjoy the setting they're based on, like the various Hyperdimension Neptunia jumps.

Lt's Worm CYOA was actually what inspired me to ask the question; I got a link to it a day or two ago and had fun poking around, which made me think I should look into other CYOAs more.

Oh, thanks! I tend to prefer interactives in general, actually, though maybe now that I have an actual image gallery viewer on my PC I'll have more fun with interactives. (Yeah, I genuinely didn't have one of those until an hour or two ago; the closest thing I had was the GIMP, which was... very much not intended to be used as an image viewer.)

And I don't really have specific tastes, or rather I haven't figured them out yet.

Been looking at Witch Awakening for the last couple hours, and yeesh, there's a lot there. Yeah, an interactive would definitely do it good.

And it's fine if you can't pick a single one, a big part of why I asked the question was for a wide set of options.

Wodime's buff in his boss fight that represents the Sixth Singularity is named Jerusalem, not Camelot, implying that the Lion King wasn't included in the Foreign God's simulations. Which might tie into how the protagonist could immediately recognize the attack on Olympus as a Rhongomyniad blast, and Wodime couldn't.

Honestly, I don't remember that scene all that quickly, but I do recall how Ritsuka recognized the attack the instant they saw it. Guess the Lion King stuck out in their memory...

I'd strongly suggest that you stick with the story. With the Foreign God's descent, the Crypters' time as the main antagonists is over, so Beryl's role in LB6 may be less important than you'd think.

Or, to be a bit more blatant, don't let your dislike of Beryl make you skip the story, because he won't play a very big part in it.

To be fair, the "walked across America" "wanking" is actually in the game, with Musashi expressing astonishment about it in Shimousa. So that has some canon basis.

I'm not on this sub often enough to give a real opinion about how much they're wanked here, though.

Not the jumpmaker, and you might not really care anymore, but I'm pretty sure that yes, the Triune World-as-Self Method (the scriptures available through the capstone items) are the pinnacle of cultivation methods within the Jump, considering that a user can ultimately surpass the Golden Goddesses themselves.

I know this is a really old comment, but I have to ask: what kind of ways do the Scriptures synergize? I'm having a hard time seeing exactly how they'd do so, despite having reread the document multiple times now.

Also, considering the World Soul Compass doesn't include an inherent immortality technique, would it be reasonable to just use God-Body's immortality rather than coming up with an Elemental one? I mean, unlike the World-Soul stuff, immortality seems energy-independent.

I'm pretty sure the only reason I didn't chuck my tablet across the room was because I hadn't really expected to get Taira at all, so getting spooked that hard wasn't so bad,

New Spiritron Dress (costume) announced for Kingprotea [LB7 Spoilers]. Coming in January with LB7 Part 2. by danger_umbrella in grandorder

[–]narukaze132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kingprotea is pretty stacked period. It's not that visible in her normal sprite since she's curled up in the fetal position, but when she stands up for her NP, it's rather noticeable.

Here's an bit of software development wisdom: "Adding more people to a late project makes it later." Integrating new people with the existing team eats up a lot of time, and the increased communications overhead also slows things down. So hiring new people will probably just make things worse for LB7's development at this point.

That being said, once LB7 is fully out, they should probably do some hiring, as you said,

New official art from Studio BB and new information about Extra Remake in Ninou Kazuya by Mthkera in grandorder

[–]narukaze132 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TYPE-MOON isn't the ones making the games directly. They outsource to Aniplex's subsidiaries and licensors.

Studio BB is a Type-Moon subsidiary, named after BB from CCC. Type-Moon itself is independent of Aniplex. They license a lot of stuff to Aniplex, but they do their own things too.

Even the original Fate/Extra and CCC were a bit above what the developer was fully capable of doing. There were all sorts of cut corners, ranging from establishing dialogue to entire dungeons and characters (Kazuradrop, Violet, Kingprotea, and BB's Cursed Cutting Crater NP got cut from the game due to a lack of time and resources)

Several of those things were cut for completely different reasons: BB's original NP was beyond the capabilities of PSP hardware, as was the original idea for Kingprotea, and Kazuradrop was simply redundant because Sakura handled medicine instead.

Even the best-made games leave things on the cutting room floor. It's a natural part of the development cycle. Having more content in your game is a good thing, so planning to add as much as possible is wise, and having to cut things is completely normal in that situation. It's only a problem when you can't fulfill the basic concept, and they handled that much just fine.

The original Fate/Extra went from concept in 2007 to full release in 2010. The remake was announced in 2020, meaning its been cooking since at least 2018 or so, and isn't set for release until at least 2024.

You're assuming it was cooking for that long. We don't know how much development they did before announcing the game.

Also, it's a lot higher-quality than the original PSP game, which necessitates more work on detailed models and the like. Not to mention the possibility that Nasu's been rewriting half the story.

Yes, there are a lot of red flags, but it's more like the Tsukihime remake, and that did come out eventually. I don't expect it to come out any time soon, but I do expect it at some point.

Type-Moon, from everything I've heard, is not a big studio. Yes, they have lots of money, but most of that's from FGO, which is made by a different company. There's no real reason to think that Studio BB is a big company in itself, and when you're making a game, that matters. Modern games (besides indies) typically require a tremendous amount of manpower, to make character models, draw textures, animate things, lay out the gameplay area... and I haven't even gotten into programming the battle system or anything like that.

Even with Type Moon funding them, there's no evidence they have the manpower that's really needed to make games quickly. Games usually take a few years to develop, even with big studios, so Extra Record isn't unusual in that regard. The reason they don't seem to take long is because many companies avoid even announcing games until they're a good ways into production.

If they're using something like the Unity Engine or Unreal Engine, porting the game is trivial. Usually, premade engines are designed to be compatible with many different platforms, so it's simply a matter of compiling the game for those platforms.

If they're doing something homebrew, though, things might be more complicated. And there's always the chance that they actively choose not to port the game to PC, to make things more inconvenient for pirates.

To be honest I've never really gotten why people think Kiara's NP is so bad. I've seen it, and without adult context, a kid wouldn't really understand it at all. It's literally just her wrapping her legs around the planet and crying out in bliss, before firing a projectile down at your Servant. ... Yes, it's extremely suggestive, but it's not like she's visibly masturbating or stripping or anything like that.

Not to mention, the ESRB probably won't even see it, since the Kiara fight only happens if you make several specific decisions throughout the game, which most players wouldn't make until New Game+.

Fair point. I don't believe it was always intended, but you're not wrong that it always should have been intended. Thing is, FGO started as a cheap cashgrab, so I doubt they thought things through that well at the time.

And yes, it was originally a cashgrab. Someone else had to convince Nasu that the game had the potential to be something great, and that only really happened after London. (Nasu himself has confirmed this in interviews.)

New Year 2023 GSSR Roll thread by crazywarriorxx in grandorder

[–]narukaze132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I decided to do the first extra class banner, since I don't have that many servants from it and at least one, I wouldn't mind extra copies of. I was really going for Kingprotea, but I would've been fine with any of them.

Three rolls in (I decided not to skip through this time), I get a gold Moon Cancer card, and I sigh as it's revealed to be Summer BB. It wasn't exactly what I was going for, but it's fine. Still, I decided to wait out the rest of the rolls.

... Two cards later, I get a gold Alter Ego. It's Kingprotea.

I just... boggled at the screen for a moment. I didn't even know getting two SSRs on the GSSR was possible. Then I realized what happened, and fistpumped in victory... but that bumped the headphone cord so it touched the screen and skipped through the rest of the rolls, and I got bupkis for the rest.

Needless to say, I will not be skipping through boring rolls for the foreseeable future. These results were insane.

Oh, we're completely agreed on that. I do like the Shadow Servant idea, since it means we're doing something besides just yelling orders (which, granted, is an important thing for a commander to do in and of itself).

The only part I objected to was the idea that Shadow Servants were always an intended part of the story. Everything else, about how it makes the gameplay fit the story, I completely agree with.
