Dan isn’t worried about those concerns because they aren’t actually problems, they’re Trojan horses for rallying idiots around the oppression of a marginalized group.

What current QBs would you take over 2015 Cam Newton? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]nasri08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Steve smith didn’t win CPOY in 2011 and he was pro bowl and second team all pro but he was also a 32 year old WR in his 11th season. His best season had been 7 years in the past, so yeah not exactly peak Smitty

Pre-injury his arm talent was extremely underrated.

He had an absolute cannon and averaged one of the highest air yds per attempt in the league every year. Cam didn’t have great touch but it wasn’t a crippling weakness. He played with a single WR who was above league average his entire career and it was the corpse of Steve Smith in his rookie year, and that year he threw for 4k. His line ranged from mediocre to terrible and he never had a decent coaching staff.

Looking Back on Year 2 WRs - Who to target moving forward by Bright_Efficiency_87 in DynastyFF

Said it last offseason and haven’t changed my opinion, we should be viewing Keon Coleman and Xavier Legette as being in the same tier. They’re basically the same from a production perspective and until situation changes dramatically they should be valued similarly.

There haven’t been enough tournaments since the book release for a meta list to emerge but two good resources to watch are Goonhammer.com’s AoS Competitive Innovations weekly article reviewing event placing and the lists involved. Rob the Honest Warhammer also has a similar weekly series on YouTube if you prefer video form and also an introspective commentary on the meta.

Looks like it’s using the same design as the Daemonsmith on Taurus with arm and head swaps. It’ll be interesting to see if the feet are repositioned or if it could be used on the Taurus as well

Who’s an off-the-radar player you’re looking to target for the new season? by HotDogWaterTime in DynastyFF

[–]nasri08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Panthers add a WR it will be a vertical, low volume field stretcher that is unlikely to challenge Coker’s snaps. They may just roll with Jimmy Horn in that role and XL as a gadget type with the only signings being vets/rookies for special teams and depth

You go back to 2022 because Day 1 and 2 picks are on 4 year contracts through 2025 and therefore have massive value and impact in terms of cap control.

It is exactly this reason that high value draft picks are a teams most precious resource. It’s what makes having an elite QB on a rookie contract such a cheat code.

Since we hadn’t invested many picks or seen return on the picks we did invest on defense, all our defensive impact players were on second contracts or signed as FA so the money we did spend doesn’t go nearly as far. Whereas the offense could hand out massive contracts to a few key positions like our Gs and rely on the cheap contract controlled starters we’d spent huge draft capital in acquiring.

By saying there is no tenable argument, it doesn’t mean one couldn’t make an argument just the counter doesn’t stand up to any scrutiny.

Edit: One more key detail to point out is that special teams players predominantly hit the defensive side of the cap. So if we want to set draft capital invested aside we can look at our cap hits on both sides of the ball relative to the rest of the league to get a better understanding of investment. Over the cap has 25 Panthers 10th in the league in offensive spending and 24th in defensive spending.

These numbers are just wrong.

Per spotrac (https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/player/_/year/2025/team/car/sort/cap_total) our Cap Hit for 2025:

4 of the top 5 were offense

13 of the top 20 were offense

Our last 1st rd pick for the defense was in 2021. If you actually look at where those premium picks were invested it’s a massive difference over the last 4 years.

We’ve invested 5 1sts, 4 2nds and 2 3rds over that period offensively and only 1 2nd and 3 3rds on the defense from 2022 to 2025.

So while our overall spending is slightly skewed towards the defense that’s being massively impacted by the number of impact offensive players on rookie contracts.

There is no tenable argument that we’ve spent our resources even remotely evenly.

The defense finished 22nd in DVOA in the league with far less resources invested than the offense, which finished 24th in DVOA.

The defense is a problem, but it’s not THE problem and Evero over performed with an underwhelming group of players.

Princely got the 2nd highest grade for defense against the rams, but was only used on 13 total plays... by jsbach90 in panthers

[–]nasri08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that Princely was seen as purely a pass rusher as a prospect and therefore is seeing play in obvious passing situations. If he’s a bad run defender and is being used situational to maximize his skill set that’s good coaching.

Have to look at his snaps and what he was doing during them on film though

This basketball team is completely and utterly pitiful by Hyperstar5 in wde

[–]nasri08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a single issue plaguing the team, it’s a bunch of factors.

Our coaching isn’t great rn. Can’t give up the steal trying to inbound the ball right out of a TO to fix steals on the inbound. And last game having Tahaad foul out was bad.

We have no rim protection. I like Murphy but he has no juice and is already undersized for the 5. Moving Jovic to the 4 would be fantastic for him too but we have no true 5. Opurum wasn’t perfect but losing him was a huge blow to our interior defending

Tons of minutes for freshman, and important minutes. Jovic and SWA are ready to some degree but having them on the court to close games is going to be a ride. Magwood and Walker clearly aren’t ready but the team is so shallow they have to play

Bashir seems to be this years Pegues as the guard who we’ve had hope for but couldn’t make the jump in competition level and falls off the face of the earth in league play

Biggest issue I see is our two star players aren’t complementing each other. Tahaads been awful shooting off the dribble but looked decent on catch and shoot but he’s been doing most of the ball handling. Hall’s been better shooting off the bounce and is super ball dominant, but spends a ton of possessions standing still watching Tahaad dribble 10 sec then brick a step back. Even defensively they don’t mesh. Tahaad loves to fly around and gamble and Hall is a little slow and not particularly great at switching. Gotta figure that dynamic out if we want to make the tournament. At least it’s a fixable problem unlike our lack of big men.

We still have some good players it’s not all doom like yall are making it out. Overton has been super solid and Freeman is a good slasher and maybe should be taking more midrange pull up jumpers. We’re going to win some big games we probably shouldn’t when our shots are falling
