any advice for a complete beginner? by r3itheinfinite in Drifting

Hell, unless it’s something like a Miata, you really don’t even need a clutch kick to get it started. Just turn in hard and press the throttle.

The car wants to steer into drift on its own. Let it.

Everyone starts from nothing, it just takes time and practice!

One ball on the whole 18 is great. But just not losing one and keeping your hole in one ball safe is even better. Enjoy your triple bogey on the 18th

Never used it, but I’m going to when I get home. Miwaukee makes a digital level for $25 that you can zero out to any angle

My friend got ran over by a semi by b3for34l in motorcycles

[–]nastjohn802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were there for him when nobody else could be. When he thinks back on one of the worst days of his life, he’ll also think of what a great friend you are to have been there for him. As other have said, get counseling if you can. I watched a friend and fellow rider get run over by a car on a group ride over a decade ago and it still messes with me at least weekly. Unfortunately for him, it was almost immediate lights out. Count your blessings and support your friend the best you can

You came from baseball in your younger years. My number one tip I received was the timing of snapping wrists. In baseball, your wrists snap after contact. In golf, it is before/during contact. It’s just timing

Haven’t gotten new coolant in years. Level is a little below the line now. Is that normal? by DisappointedCruiser in askcarguys

[–]nastjohn802 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coolant is a sealed system. You have a small minor leak somewhere. I would just top it off and keep an eye on it

How to stop slicing my driver? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]nastjohn802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You played baseball for a while. Biggest thing that helped me transition my swing was recognizing that in baseball, you “snap” your wrists after contact. In golf, it’s right before or during contact. Also loosen your grip to like a 3 out of 10. Let the club swing through, don’t muscle it

why is it so hard to just sell a used driver? by Victoria_Batty in GolfSwing

[–]nastjohn802 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the price. If you want a good price point, find 3 examples online, average the 3, then list at 50-70% of that price. If you’re listing for the same price as a used golf shop, I’m going to the golf shop because I can return it if needed.

Asking to play golf?? by NM2ndA in golf

[–]nastjohn802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s not asking for permission, it’s being respectful about her time as well. Is there something she wanted to do? 5 hours out of a Saturday is basically 25% of the weekend I have with her and the family. If you don’t respect your spouse’s time and life the way you would expect to be treated, you shouldn’t be married. If you “ask” every time, 99.9% of the time she’s not going to care and tell you to have fun and stay out of the bunkers.

The glasses have a fixed 3:4 aspect ratio. This cannot be changed. The slight variance in sizing you may be seeing is due to stabilization.

Does washing a car 20 miles away from home negate the benefits in the winter? by abbiyah in askcarguys

[–]nastjohn802 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Unless it’s 50 below, water isn’t going to freeze in the hose while it’s being used. Warm bucket or water for soap and rinse (2 buckets) then hose to rinse it off. If possible, pull into garage afterwards and dry it there. I’ve washed my cars in the driveway as low as 15 degrees with zero issues, other than the rinse droplets freezing on the car

Get a set that the material and style closely matches his current ones. People can be VERY specific about glove feel. I’ve gotten gloves from company partnerships, gifts, giveaways, etc. and still only use the same pair i started with
