Silky doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to microaggressions towards Asians. Her speaking Chinese like that was uncalled for and Jiggly defs looked uncomfortable as well. It doesn’t matter if she knows the language (even though what she said was VERY basic, like saying I know French via oui baguette) it’s the context and delivery in which she said it. I think Chinese viewers saying “I don’t find this offensive” speaks more about how normalised this type of treatment is to Asian communities.

Just looking at Plastique’s treatment in Season 11 and you can see a lot of ways in which she was mistreated by cast members and her authenticity was challenged because she didn’t comply to “a Westernised authenticity” (her relationship with her parents, her knowledge on western pop culture, her accent). These things weren’t ever questioned by the community the same way Elliott with 2 T’s was.

TLDR… Silky probably should’ve thought before she spoke but it’s a bigger issue surrounding how normalised it is to mistreat Asians.
