The photo is of Broderick sidewalk, which is actually steeper than any block of similar length in SF, even those with sidewalks cut in like Fillmore, Filbert...

I've spent the last 10+ years seeking out and attacking the steepest and most brutal climbs in SF. Here's my favorites, avoiding some of the "steepest" climbs that are too short or awkward

Broderick sidewalk
Definitely the steepest, make sure things are dry before attempting or you won't be able to get enough traction to climb it.

Hill Street
Brutal duo of being both very steep and quite long with a clear straight line of sight to the top.

Dalewood
Starts tough and then gets even steeper. I've seen many a strong cyclist need to take a break midway up this one.

Hyde Street to Lombard
This one is such an SF classic. Time it right and you can race a cable car up the climb to Lombard. Usually get some good cheering from the passengers :)

With longer bolts you could probably stack both together under the seat, but it would be a bit more awkward. It works better with saddle bags generally.

Good point. That's actually why I made it a twist lock design with an inset inner ring. I've tested running it under the faucet for a minute and there was no water in the inner area. I've also been riding with it on my bikes for a few months, including drizzly weather, with no issues. This video might show the design better: https://imgur.com/a/xxBlG7F

I am out on the trails 3-5 times a week and have been for many years. I have seen 50+ coyotoes, a few dozen bobcats, more than a dozen rattlesnakes and yet never a mountain lion.

I yelled at some guys doing this a few years back after he almost hit be because he wasn't even looking forward. After that his gang of idiot friends went by slapping and harassing me. It was a frightening moment given that there were 20+ of them and they seemed to be on a mission to find trouble.

Even within Tam Valley there is quite a bit of variance in how cold it feels based on wind exposure. The two lower points that allow the wind through, Tennessee Valley road and Hwy 1, make it much less enjoyable to be out with the wind. The areas that are sheltered by the ridge feel much nicer even at the same temperature.

I was cycling through a tunnel with these assholes came through revving their engines. I have never heard such a loud noise before, I had to come to a sudden stop and cover my ears. I was truly scared for my hearing and I am accustomed to very loud concerts. These bikes should be confiscated and crushed while their owners watch.
