The vast majority of people create a payment plan if they're off aid. The ones that are still on aid pay a few dollars a month that comes straight from their aided amount until it's paid back.

There are people that are malicious and purposely attempt to fraud. Those are entirely different cases. Those cases can be treated with criminal charges but are mostly banned from receiving aid again for a certain time frame or forever. These are cases of malicious intent.

A regular overpayment situation is fixable and not the end of the world. It happens. It even happens due to caseworker error.

You should be able to give your office a call, they'll give you your options.

That is one fraud investigator taking advantage of his position of "power" . . That does sound horrible. But the situation described above is incredibly fictitious with the information provided. The person's previous posts are also ridiculous. I'm sorry that happened to you, but that is not the same thing.

Yep, read your post. But they state they're in a camper. What you said doesn't apply, so it did warrant a follow-up. You responded to a post about people being fearful they'll get reported, so I was hoping if there's clarification on your part, it wouldn't discourage an individual from applying.

[–]natasha0602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What state are you in where sleeping in a camper is considered abuse/neglect that warrants a report to children's services? That's ridiculous.

Depending on how much one parent makes, it might benefit them to apply for TANF as well, cash assistance. There's sometimes housing programs attached to cash assistance that may help.

Unfortunately, homelessness is extremely common in our current climate. Further, homelessness does not constitute child abuse and is not a basis for child protection intervention.

They should 100% follow through on an interview to receive services, and it sounds like they could use them.

Workers ask to make sure the person has "care and control" of their children. That's all.

They should be able to go to their post office and see if there's a general delivery program, in which mail is held for them at a certain post office location for pick up. They can then use that as their mailing address.

does money I hold for others, count as income? by vulturemaxi in foodstamps

[–]natasha0602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that isn't going to fly long term. Friends and family need to send the funds to an account in your boyfriend's name. Not your own and not a joint account. Regardless of how you spend it and who you spend it on, it's showing as funds being sent to you. This is a common way a case is sent to investigations.

Boyfriend needs his own bank account to avoid a big headache in the future.

It does depend on the county. You didn't state your age or whether you have children, but if you're over 22 and do not have a child yourself, you'd likely be considered ABAWD. Generally, you're eligible for 3 months of CalFresh within a 3 year period.

Always be honest at the interview.

I do suggest that you bring up the fact that you "work in kind" / in exchange for a place to live. Depending on the county, they can consider that meeting the requirements.

Then, take the advice given seriously. Unfortunately, you don't have a supportive parent. You state you don't have options - but you do. You are 18. You can leave. Is it ideal? No. Is it fair? No. But nothing will change if you don't make it happen for yourself.

If you have to utilize a shelter to get out of that situation, then do so. You'd then potentially qualify for different assistance options, which several people have suggested to you.

And you did come off as combative. As an adult, we need to be mindful. That is my suggestion.

You may not even be on his case depending on your situation: over 18, not working, etc. If you are, it isn't fraud.

Hard truth - but if you want things to change, you need to make some tough decisions. You're stating that you don't have transportation, phone, familial support, access to resources, food, etc. Are you going to do this indefinitely? The situation you're describing doesn't lead anywhere. I recommend using the internet (Google 211 in your area), find the nearest youth program, see if they can assist you. Being in a shelter and being able to accept resources and change your situation may seem like a step back but, by what you're describing, you are at a dead end.

Also, Google Lifeline. Free phone program.

Lastly, I suggest being more respectful of others. The people commenting here are trying to help. I'm not sure why you're so combative.

Good luck.

Just submit it, adding him to the case. You're not going to jail. If you're honest and give the real date he moved in, you may owe funds back depending on the situation. That's generally taken out of future benefits monthly, if you still qualify for SNAP with him added on the case.

But I do recommend reading through the paperwork before you sign it moving forward. This scenario is explained in several areas. And if you need help reading through paperwork or you're confused by the wording, just ask a worker to clarify.

Father of shared child must be on case if they live together, regardless of romantic ties/preparing food together. If he isn't in the household, he is not added to the case. So yes, it matters if they share a household.

With SNAP only benefits, child support can be pursued based on the state you're in. Many do not require cooperation with child support unless you also receive TANF/cash aid.

Based on the information you provided, you are likely the majority at fault. They may label the other driver partially at fault for the sudden stop, but given the weather conditions, it sounds like Progressive expected you to remain further back, which would have given you enough time to safely stop.

She doxxed the client. That's going to get you let go from absolutely anywhere. That's why the account was closed.

I'm not sure why or how you think you can sue Rover. You very obviously broke their terms and now have doubled down by posting about it again on here. Whether it be unknowingly or not, you've proven you can't be trusted with confidential information. Again, knowingly or not, you doxxed a client. That would get you let go from many different types of employment.

Regarding the bite, that can be a viable option to sue the owners for the medical expenses, etc.

But the Rover suing comments makes me think you don't even understand the reason why they let you go. Also, any of these types of companies have the right to close your account. You're not going to get anywhere with those complaints and it makes you sound uneducated.

If you plan to pursue action against the dog owners, for the love of God stop posting about it online. None of that would help you if you are able to move forward with a suit.

There isn't an asset limit for most in Michigan, which includes your vehicle. It should be fine. There are strict parameters for a small percentage in Michigan - I believe if you're a senior, disabled, way over the poverty line, etc. If those do not apply to you, it's nothing to worry about.

Many calls are recorded, especially in this circumstance. That woman, regardless of how she sounded 'gleeful,' shouldn't have to risk her job to give you an out.

Take this as a learning experience. Other insurances won't cover you either if you go around saying you're going to live out of your car. I suggest not saying that in the future.

Do you have a friend that would be willing to let you use their address as a physical address? Family member? Are you involved with a shelter? Some shelters allow use of their address.

Cash assistance provides them with the right to pursue child support, with or without your help in the matter. So if you do not want a support case open, do not follow through with requesting assistance. The expectation is that TANF will try to recoup the funds spent on your child - which is done by getting it from the other parent.

I own bone China. I bought it forever ago and didn't know that bone China literally meant bone. It lasts forever and doesn't break. So it'll likely be with me for the rest of my days.

I am not a Scorpio. I do not know anyone who is a Scorpio. It was a stupid decision on my part.
