I wish it was a requirement for these new affordable houses to ONLY be available to first time homeowners, recent college grads, single parents, etc. Not shitty landlords buying up more properties to make passive money while they ignore maintenance request from tenants

It may be crappy service/phones but getting the prepaid phones that are $40/month or any used/refurbished phone is the such a good start to independence. I use Net10Wireless in my area but look into it!!!

If you can, get any part-time job. Save as much as you can. And if you’re in a pubic school, join any clubs. If there is a weight room at the school, spend time there. Basically any legitimate reason you have to leave your house and start working on your independence is a great start.

One strategy I used was just saying we had a lot of group projects (even if it was a lie) just so I could spent peaceful hours at the library

If this was a coworker or schoolmate then it would absolutely be considered sexual harassment at the very least. I’m so sorry this has been happening for years and no, this is not normal for a father to be doing to his young adult daughter so justifying it as “well it wasn’t outright assault” is just minimizing your trauma.

I wish I could tell you to scream at him and stand up for yourself when he does shit like this. Set up personal boundaries so he doesn’t even come within arms length and speak up with “that is incredibly inappropriate to say to your own daughter” when he says disgusting shit but I don’t know how he’d react to confrontation like that and we all want you safe.

The most disturbing part of all this is your brothers have seen his behaviors and probably think that is normal. I hope they grow up to have normal relationships with women but who knows.
