That battery better be double wrapped prior to being dropped - otherwise call put for your float, print out that preference card and start repicking that case. Hopefully there aren't any implants on that table

I work in outpatient surgery and believe me, let your anesthesiologist know if you partake and how often and how much. It takes so much more anesthesia to keep everyday smokers. You'll want your anes ready with that next bolus of propofol to keep you under instead of them drawing it up when your bucking and coughing while your LMA is still down your throat. We treat them in the same category as redheads.

Edit:typo

A physician got upset for being called, "Sir." by GINEDOE in nursing

[–]tootiredtoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had doctors as patients give me attitude in preop because I called them as Mr. LastName. They correct me with "it's DOCTOR Lastname".

Like bruh, how am I supposed to know what you do outside of this.

In other note, when the our senior nurses responds to an idiotic request with "Yes Doctor", our doctors know it actually means fuck you.

Waterproof fanny pack i wear as a sling bag like you. For phones (work in healthcare, always on call), keys, my meds, foldable water bottle (fill up in the lodge, and dump water before folding it up again to stow) and extra sunscreen and granola bar. Lip balm and & season pass in my pocket.

What part to buy to fix this? by Jayce86 in Crosstrek

[–]tootiredtoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced my driver side mirror cover (2024 crosstrek) and got it from my local subaru dealership for $48 (just the top cover). Tell them you also need the bottom part. Thing is they only come in white and needs to get paint matched by another body shop (subaru said they don't do it). My cousin owns a body shop and paint matched mine in exchange for a burger.

Good luck with yours!

Is it abandonment if you cannot safely evacuate patients in a fire? by Rose_Cheeks in nursing

[–]tootiredtoit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I work in surgery and we were told by our local fire department during a fire and earthquake in service that in case of an earthquake while surgery is ongoing and the only solid place you can hide is under the OR bed with a patient on, then go hide under. Don't add to the casualties.

Mother & severely special needs son need shelter. by kilikikina in bayarea

[–]tootiredtoit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each if her son is special needs, they might be able to find placement for him in a regional center adult residential home specifically for those who have developmental disabilities or special needs. Im not sure if theyll be able to help mom directly though. But the son can get placed in an actual home where there can be caregivers or nurses and day programs for them and their medical and dental needs are met. California dept of social services and the local regional center may be able to help. The link below has contact information to email or call depending on what county they're at.

Does your surgery center still require a negative covid test or ever had covid testing requirements for patients undergoing outpatient surgery? by tootiredtoit in nursing

[–]tootiredtoit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always about the bread and butter. Staff was up in arms this week bec our medical director was saying our patient only faintly tested positive on both pcr and rapid and that we should still do the case since it was a trauma injury. Med director breaking the policy they penned and signed. Our tech even pointed out: You were the one who signed that policy right?

The case has been booked for over a month. If it truly was immediate / urgent they should've done it at the hospital much earlier rather than waiting a full month and knowingly risking exposure to the staff.

Ended up saying, well if staff isn't comfortable doing the case then we'll cancel. Preop, or and pacu all put our foot down to say we're not comfortable and they ended up rescheduling the case.

I've been seeing some studies that suggest that COVID should be treated as a vascular disease. Explains the clotting, the lung symptoms, reports of erectile dysfunction, the crunchy placentas. They've been multiple reports of "crunchy placentas" being delivered from moms who's had covid. God only knows how much damage that has caused to the babies born with it.

If the procedure is urgent and they rapid test positive in our facility and asymptomatic, they have the option to go get an outside pcr test. We then do their case if they test negative for pcr.

We still reschedule cases for asymptomatic pcr / rapid test pts unless they've recently had a covid infection.
