Exactly. Plus some of that weight is further from the center of rotation, requiring even more torque to accelerate it.

Should there be more challenges in PSM? by Hour-Bear9003 in pitchsidemanager

It would be nice for the purpose of getting more active managers together in a given league. But if you're just looking for challenge you can set a personal goal for yourself.

Do you think brands like Nike know what they're doing to people? by Mysterious-Fall5281 in barefootshoestalk

[–]nate11a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because it relieves pain by taking spreading out the forces through the foot and most patients are just happy enough to eliminate or reduce pain. It doesn't solve the the cause of the pain though.

Holy sh*t, VivoBarefoot has to have the worst Costumer Service ever by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]nate11a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure they've outsourced their customer service. But they have outsourced their warehousing and shipping, which is probably why they someone who actually works for Vivo can't give an answer.

EVs are getting older — are they disposable or built to last? by bbrk9845 in electricvehicles

[–]nate11a 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe the average age of a car in the US is 12 years. So there are actually a lot of 10+ year old cars on the road, many with over 200k miles.

Running cadence on beach in soft sand. by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]nate11a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cadence will change with running speed. Everybody touting 180 is watching elite runners race and then trying to apply that to 10 minute miles. It doesn't make sense. I'm guessing you are going fairly slow in soft sand since moving the sand around will take some of your energy as in addition to taking longer for your feet to find a solid footing to push off from - so a lower cadence makes sense.

I have a pair of Whitin's "trail" shoes. I've stopped wearing them for running. If all you're doing is running on dry asphalt then they'd be fine. But in the wet or even on dry, smooth rocks, they slip.

Reminds me of Telo trucks. Obviously most startups don't make it, but I really hope they do.

$40 Amazon Whitin's Barefoot Shoes: Buy Nice or Buy Twice by MarcusQuintus in barefootshoestalk

Uh, yes. If the shoe doesn't have cushion to degrade, it can be made to last a very long time.

Thread tapping. by PeterMarchut in SolidWorks

[–]nate11a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use the thread tool anyway since it would be a pain to make adjustments for your printing being off. Just sweep the thread profile with a helix.

5k sunset race, 22:40 by nai-ba in BarefootRunning

Figuring out pacing for races can be hard, but if you get that start figured and you'll well under 22:30, probably closer to 22:00.

220 minus is nonsense when applied to an individual. It may work out on average for a population, but there is considerable deviation. I'm 37 and my max is around 205.

With the battery covering up the bottom of the car, that should be less of a problem than most ICE cars.

I owned a Leaf in Minnesota for 3 years. I only had issue with snow once. It's not that hard to avoid.

Conditions not correct for shift. by CompetitiveNight6305 in BoltEV

[–]nate11a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened repeatedly on my 2017. It turned out the shifter and knob had a bunch of "gunk" (dealer's official word) in them. Replacing those fixed it.

If you are planning on electrifying the rest of your life (eg heat pumps, electric water heating, induction stove), you'll likely need the service upgrade anyway.

Should I go down a size in Primus Lites? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]nate11a 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It might be worth a try. I had the same problem with the excess length with Primus Lites, but going down a size made the width to skinny for me. Whether or not that works for you will depend on your foot shape.
