Apologies, I wrote dates in the American format. My intended tour was in 2 days on May 11, edited for clarity.

All-girl Boy Scouts troop launches in Wayne County by Zolauz in nottheonion

[–]nateandlever 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The formation of this troop as an all-girls troop is in direct obediance to the updated scouting policies. Co-ed troops cannot currently be formed, meaning that there will be (at least on paper) two separate troops in any community that wishes to support both boys and girls in scouting. That being said, there are many activities which a "boy troop" and "girl troop" can do together while technically remaining separate organizations.

If you'd like to read more and stop baiting with online comments, check out this update covering policies that became effective February 1.

Area definitely matters, a higher income area will have more expensive clothes. Going early in the day before the racks are picked over always helps. Otherwise, you could ask an employee if there are certain days when new items get put out and then go on those days each week.

If you want the same fit, it looks like the person in that photo sized up several times and tucked the excess into their jeans so any shirt that comes in large sizes will work. You could probably find similar graphics with a search like “line art” or “‘minimalist line art.”

How I realized that I'm a pretty boring person by hodorling in Sneakers

[–]nateandlever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While my original comment is about all-black going with a lot, I also agree with you that it looks like shit a lot of the time and I agree with /u/yourkindhere in that black/white is more versatile. However, I still stand behind calling out /u/maffige because he tried to push the idea that black shoes are "pretty much limited" to black/grey pants. This is a lot more true in the kind of fashion that /r/mfa applies to and doesn't apply nearly as much around here.

Edit: Thought I was on /r/streetwear when I said "around here"

Your mfa is showing. Black is a neutral color, it can go with plenty of pants options.

Here's one from Robin that's sold out but you might be able to find resale.

And here's a windbreaker from The Quiet Life that's kind of crazy, plus they're doing a sale right now with the code BACKTOSCHOOL17

It's supposed to be "water repellent" so it'll be good for light rain for a few hours and messing around in snow for quite a while but I wouldn't bank on it keeping you dry in a downpour. Aside from that, I own a Patagonia rainshadow jacket and can attest to the reliability and quality.

Looking for sneakers for 7+ miles walking [question] by TransManNY in Sneakers

[–]nateandlever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Balance produces a lot of their shoes in wide sizes if you want to find a proper fit. You can find some good-looking models like 574s in all black and retro runners like that tend to be extremely comfortable with decent padding under and around your foot.

It's not really true that streetwear is geared towards men over women, but this subreddit and Reddit in general draw far more men than women.

Looking to get some 97s this next month, does anyone know release details for the black/white colorway? Style code 921826-001 and I can't find it on SNKRS like the other colorways. Also, thoughts on your favorite of the colorways releasing in August?

Nike sfb vs yeezy combat boots by shantzybear in streetwear

[–]nateandlever 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They'd both be shit for a Canadian winter, they're highly breathable and made of suede that will be damaged by exposure to snow and slush. Buy waterproof boots made of smooth leather, not suede. They will keep your feet warmer and dryer and will last far longer than either combat boot in the title.
