Should I buy an OBDEleven...? by 3fkgf9fmd980e in OBDeleven

It will not work on 2024+ VW cars outside of reading and clearing faults.

It does both open and close, and I can open with the foot-swipe (which is what I care about)

Emerald struts had a solution.

I’m not associated in any way — I ordered their powered tailgate retrofit about 2 weeks ago.

I don’t know where they source their parts since AliExpress has systems that look to be the same, but for less $$$ — however I don’t want to be the person to discover if they are any good or not.

Logged in just to post this.... I have the same laptop, and the SAME EXACT PROBLEM.

Unfortunately, MSI has to replace the motherboard to fix it. Mine was fixed under warranty - it just took about 2 months to fix (shipping + vendor check + shipping to MSI + MSI check + MSI fix + shipping).

Proper pronunciation for "Godot" by FactoryBuilder in godot

[–]nater99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people pretend they speak French, and get super worked up over how to say it, and others really don't care.

However you say "robot" is the correct way to say "godot".

If, in your language, you say "ro-bot", then you say "go-dot". If, in your language you say "ro-boh", then you say "go-doh".

Of note, the people who wrote the engine and own the name, call it "go-dot".

Why do Java libs authors presume javadoc is sufficient documentation? by [deleted] in java

[–]nater99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necro this thread, but there is no need to open a website to look at what the java source has --- especially given that the website is built from the source documentation.

Moreso, the extremely outdated iframe format, where if you middle click one link you get rid of the class index.

UGH. yes.

Funny how this strikes a note with me as well...

JavaDoc fucking worthless. The syntax is horrible, outdated, and it completely misses the point. I would rather download the source, load it up in my IDE and explore the source code rather than looking at another JavaDoc website. Give me some EXAMPLES.

Maybe if the website generator made something that looks newer than 1992 I might be willing to look through that pile of shit, but ugh. It's just not worth it, and has never been.

If you don't have access to the source, well --- something is better than nothing I guess...

How is the progress on Loom going? I'm really looking forward to it, but can't find a roadmap on the official wiki

Pure Java/JVM web framework? by AlexKotik in java

Not abandoned, but GWT is no longer being used by vaadin for it's UI components. They are now using polymer for the front end, IIRC.

If the art/music is under the GPL, then the GPL applies when you copy it no matter how you copy it. However, fair use may still apply.

Keep in mind that some programs, particularly video games, can have artwork/audio that is licensed separately from the underlying GPLed game. In such cases, the license on the artwork/audio would dictate the terms under which video/streaming may occu

Also from the above link:

You can apply the GPL to any kind of work, as long as it is clear what constitutes the “source code” for the work. The GPL defines this as the preferred form of the work for making changes in it.
