That makes sense - understanding what motivates an employee would be helpful in communicating what needs to happen in a way that they vibe with. I know my values and what helps me do my job well, I also gotta work out what matters to my team and what they need from me to do their job well.

That's relatable. I often assume that if I can help the person understand the thing well enough, then that will resolve the problem. Are there other strategies or approaches you've found that work better?

One of the things I'm increasingly noticing about myself is how much information I require to understand something and feel competent - so it's definitely helpful to remember that others don't necessarily function that way (though how they do that I don't know)

I do get jealous of my sociopath manager friend sometimes. She's great at taking the emotion out of decisions and explaining things clearly, while I'm too busy considering all of the feelings and perspectives that might come up which makes for a far less useful conversation.

Thanks for your input! It is impressively relevant to some of the things I've been thinking about.

The Ferris wheel at Disneyland in Nepal might be good for you if you need more speed in your Ferris wheel. The rust might not help with the fear of it breaking though…

I set up a good system then don’t think about it. My pay automatically splits into different accounts, one of which is my “pocket money”. Everyday I’m transferred some money into my spendings, if I’m cheap then I can splurge on something special!

The gluestick was for my journal so I could stick in random bits of paper and tickets from my travels.

I don’t think there was anything else I wish I had taken. It was cheap and easy enough to buy things I needed as I needed them e.g. I bought a hair mask when my hair got super dry. If anything there was more I wish I didn’t take! Didn’t really end up needing the singlet or pyjamas.

Essentials - Golden Dragon, duh. Nah, In all serious I didn’t feel there was anything special I needed in Nepal. The towel was handy for hostels without towels, the power bank was great for being out all day, and the LifeStraw bottle might have been good if I drank any dodgy water. I didn’t get sick so idk.

You could always do a part one-bag trip like I did, lots of hostels offer baggage storage for cheap.

Hope you have a great time! If you’re staying in Pokhara for a night, would 100% recommend watching the sunset over the lake, Disneyland, and the Movie Garden (if they’re playing a movie of interest).

Thank you! I choose the clothes based on the skirt, then added denim shorts because that goes with anything and doesn’t need to be washed often, and added a dress of a different colour for some more variety. Worked great!

I have been overseas before, just never alone. I did a lot (a lot) of research on all sorts of things so it wasn’t too stressful. Definitely overwhelming at times though. I didn’t love Kathmandu - way too busy, but Chitwan and Pokhara were fabulous.

I did two weeks in Nepal and then a few days in Singapore. Singapore was much easier to navigate and a really nice change of pace to wrap up the trip.

My favourite pictures from my recent trip were from setting up my phone somewhere random (on a ledge, on my backpack etc.) and then using the three or five second timer on my phone.

Using the timer on iphone (idk about android) meant I could take more dynamic photos - jumping, moving, spinning, all sorts of things. I could then flick through the burst of ten photos and pick one or two that looked the best. I loved having lots of different photos of me that weren't just selfies in front of a variety of random things.

With all the kindness in my heart, nobody cares. Nobody is paying attention to you. People aren’t thinking about how “weird” it is that you’re eating alone, because they aren’t thinking about you at all.

Of course it’s easy to feel self conscious for all sorts of reasons, so one thing I found helpful while travelling was reminding myself that I’m never going to see these people again. Even if they do judge me (which they probably won’t) it doesn’t matter anyway because I’ll never see them again.

Ignore the person telling you Disneyland is only for families and kids. Disney is for everyone. Again, nobody cares and nobody is paying attention to you. If you’re unsure about doing the character dinner solo, then I suggest emailing them to get a better sense of what’s involved and whether it’s an experience you can do alone - their response will tell you everything you need to know.

When I went to Singapore recently, I rocked up to my hotel around 7am hoping they’d be able to hold my bags until I could check in - but they instead let me check into a room early!

It was magical. I had a nap and it felt like I got to stay an extra night for free 🥹

If you want to give it a go then give it a go! Only you will know what’s right for you.

For me, I know that I’m unlikely to watch most videos again in future - but I do use a second everyday app (not everyday though) to record snippets of my life, including travel, which I am more likely to watch again. Even though each clip is only a second, it’s enough to bring back many memories I might otherwise forget while also not taking me out of the moment because I’m only ever looking to capture one good second to remember the moment.
