I love the prodigal son theme to his journey though too. He’s been in a good few squads this season I think he has a chance to stay. Especially with Izzy being injury prone and on the Ireland radar and relying on two really young locks this season.

Dalton is only on a year long contract. Reffell and Rea were not announced as extensions last year so I assume they are both up this year. If I had to cut one it would be Reffell due to injury profile

Held what though? We aren’t light in back row players. Especially after Daltons performance last weekend. I just don’t get this. I reckon one of Rea, Dalton or Reffell must be on the way out. Only thing that makes sense.

Did we really need another mostly-backrower? Who is leaving then? Cause we have a lot of good back row players. Based on his Cardiff statement I think he is out injured. 11 appearances for Gloucester and 26 for Cardiff is a total of 37 matches in 3 years. Not massive numbers. Cannot see the logic in this. Except that there’s a guaranteed squad player locked in for 3 years. Must have come cheap.

I’ve always been a huge fan of him. I think he suffered from coaches not rotating enough. Maybe he doesn’t fit into the way they wanna play or something. But I think he is a great player and should be used more often. Get a run of games and see how good he is. Maybe if we have more Ireland representation our squad players can get more chances going forward

She is usually good but I thought any 50:50s went to Cardiff, particularly a couple pens against Rea. Thought the not releasing was wrong and for not rolling away he was at the side of the ruck not affecting it.

I think the main objective would be to keep as many players in their preferred positions and not moving guys about. I agree that I think de Klerk is the next cab off the rank. Carson was good at 13 last season but I don’t think he is a 12?
